So front is finished with 6112's and new wheels and tires are on. Now question is what rear shock to compliment the front without breaking the bank ! Im on the fence about 5100's just not sure. This is my wifes truck and it sees strickly 20190622_093905.jpg road use. (and road trips to Tennessee from Pa.)

5100s or 5160s, both great shocks.

Depends on how high you go. 5100’s up to 1”. 5160’s up to 2”. I was at 3” in the rear so I went with the icons which are good up to 3”. You are slightly nose high in the picture

He didn’t say anything about lifting the rear.

Didn’t say he wasn’t either. But it is slightly nose high so he might.

    6112/5100..../5160 here.

I started with the 5100s in the back. They felt great compared to even the new TRD Sport bilsteins I had. But my itch got to me and a month later I got the 5160s. Not a single regret. The 5160s just felt better. Don’t get me wrong...the 5100s felt like butter. But the 5160s felt like butter that’s been sitting at room temperature.....smoooothhh lol.

Dan, have you changed out your rear shackles?

I’m trying to make this same decision as well. I hesitate on the 5160’s due to concerns of pitting and corrosion the exposed lower rod in winter (salty) conditions. Also the 5160’s 90 day warranty makes me a bit apprehensive.

Who’s run 5160’s long term where winter is real and cruel to all things shiny? And how did it work out for you?

I'm running the 5160s and even my wife has commented on the improved ride. Was glad it wasn't just me justifying the cost to myself...she doesn't usually notice ANYTHING. They're great on and off road.

Yes. Toytec shackles and replaced the oem bushing with polys. The rear end absorbs bumps and dips so much smoother. Bed bounce over washboard is practically non existent now.

Thanks everyone. Waiting to see if the front settles any before I do the back. That pic is decieving because of the slope of the driveway. I'll probably go +1 coachbuilder shackles.

I've got 6112's / 5100's. I put the 6112's in about 6 months ago and then installed the 5100's about a week ago. The truck has 33k on it and the 5100's made a noticeable difference.

I bought them both through Boss4x4 at the same time. I believe they are Energy Suspension bushings. I think toytec sells them on their website as well.

@bgdv1 maybe I missed it somewhere but, what height setting were your 6112 set to? I'm getting ready to do the 1.3 up front with +1 Coachbuilder shackles and 5100s out back
