My 2022 TRD Off-Road is ending its warranty here soon. Every recommendation I get from the dealer is hard to find a repair to on YouTube or in a forum as this generation is still new. Finding things like torque specs seem incredibly hard to find so far.

What are the repair manual options out there? I’m struggling to find anything at all.

    Thanks for any input.

    Please confirm for TIS -
$545ish for the MONGOOSE PLUS MFC3 (Amazon)
$505 / year for standard subscription

Does the MFC3 need to be purchased from Toyota for full functionality?

Putting that on Ryan to answer is a tad unfair. He's just passing along info. Not acting as customer service for TIS. :)

The TIS subscription is just access to the same PDFs that the techs have access to. These will give you step-by-step instructions on how to remove or install various components. The J2534 connector is only needed if you're going to use Techstream Lite. You should be able to use just about any J2534 connector, but Toyota only "recommends" the Mongoose because it's the only one they've tested and sell.

Using Techstream is an not part of the $505/yr subscription. You want that, then you need to bump up to the $1360/yr subscription. See the screenshot (from the same site you already visited):

On a side note...I did not realize (until @ryanwgregg mentioned TIS again) that they offer 48-hour access to Techstream for $70.

If I can use Techstream to "sync" the radio ID of a used 14" headunit (if I decide to do that swap/upgrade), then I might snag a cheaper J2534 connector from Amazon and try using Techstream for 48 hours. Pretty much everything else I considered using Techstream for I was able to accomplish with the Carista app and an OBDII dongle.

Ugh, I should have read closer as I missed professional was required for techstream diagnostics portion. My concern was if a J2534 by itself was sufficient or there was toyota specific IP accompanying the unit when purchased form toyota which has been answered.

Too bad the HPTuners MVPI interfaces do not pass though J2534.

It is somewhat hit & miss. Best case is to read through the Amazon reviews for the cheaper cables. A lot of them will say whether or not they work with legit Techstream and, in many cases, which versions they work with. However, you can afford to cable several times with the Amazon cables at ~$25-$40 each before you start approaching the $500 of the Mongoose.

Can go with the cheaper, yet reading the HPT forum, ECM's get bricked when communication suddenly drops/corrupted. Hopefully, you get better parts with the higher priced units.

Not yet, I am still grappling with having to download instead an honest to God real book manual.

It’s legit. Crazy how in depth it is, but I’m used to dirtbike repair manuals. It’s not one giant pdf, though. It’s an html that hyperlinks to other html’s with all the info, but contains procedures, torque specs, necessary tools.

Appears 2024 Tundra Haynes/Chilton print versions are still not available.

As an ex-mechanic, at the shop we used to use Mitchell-1 and All-Data. They provide you with all the same docs, TSBs, recalls, etc, as the OEMs. They work directly with OEMs to get all the information and make it available for professional repair shops. The version for shops is expensive because it includes all makes and models, but they both have a DIY subscription for weekend warriors, they main difference between the pro and DIY is that DIY you pay a yearly ($40-$60) fee per vehicle you include in your sub.

I'm no longer wrenching but I keep subs DIY subs into both for when I need to work on my vehicles or I want to look at TSBs.

    https://eautorepair.net/ - Mitchell 1
    https://www.alldata.com/diy-us/en - AllData

I use both because Mitchell 1 has superior interactive wiring diagrams and search functions, but their navigation menu sucks. AllData has great navigation menus but lacks in wiring diagrams.

They don’t appear to have anything past 2014 for a Tundra

Yup, I have the one that came with my supercharger. It works just fine for normal stuff. I wouldn't go programming the ECM with the cracked software but all other things, it works perfect.
