As the title says; I’m looking what speed others drive at(on freeway/highway) for the best mileage. Gonna be doing long stretches for a few days and want to set my cruise control to the best speed for mileage.
    Thanks.

If there are any hills, even slight ones, cruise will eat your milage. Tundra seems happiest between 60-65. I kick it out of overdrive on hills under 60.

Just fast enough to shift into overdrive and lock the torque converter. Not sure what that speed is on a 1st gen, maybe 45mph.

Dead stock with oem 16" starfish wheels. We'll see how long that lasts. :) Topper of unknown origin.
55 mph or so. Accelerate slowly, get off the gas and use the brakes as little as possible, reduce massive efficiency losses to wind resistance above 60 mph, remove any racks or gear on the roof. Most important, delete any lift. Lifts kill mileage. Add a front air dam. Visit:https://ecomodder.com/

The cruise control comment was dead on. On my 2005 the cruise control would cost up to 3 mpg unless you were on dead flat highway

    65mph.

    Best mpg is at 45mph.

Mileage steadily declines as speed increases due to wind resistance.

I have been able to get 18+ miles per gallon keeping it at 72 miles an hour and under 2000 RPMs with the cruise control on, obviously in Flatland Illinois

My truck does really well around 55-60mph. I'm carrying a ton of extra weight and last year I was able to get over 17mpg coming back from the beach.

There isn't really a right answer to this. Follow the speed limit and you'll be fine.

Speed limit on flat, 80mph downhill so you don’t have to shift gear or give it hella gas to go back uphill

Can you rent or borrow a car from a friend? A friend might like to drive your truck for a few days too, I would even give them free gas in the truck, return the car full and pay for an oil change. Maybe more depending on savings, no need to give all to oil companies.

40-45 mph I get the best mileage on back roads. Unfortunately stop signs and slowing down for intersections tend to defeat that gain in mileage.

Funny you say that, I take mine annually to get oil undercoated and it’s on file as a Toyota Prius.

You can feather the throttle above 55. Once you drop under 55 gotta kill OD. 3rd is good until almost 60.

When I first bought Tundra I drove across Western N.C. and set cruise around 62-63 mph and got 22.0 mpg and didn't believe it and followed that up with 21.5. Literally drove it like egg is under gas pedal. Hasn't happened since; just can't drive that slow on highway, even now.

None yet but making a list and looking at the budget.....
I always try and keep my rpm's under 2k. I actually can see the MPG going up when doing this. Along with not running it in cruise control.
