I see a lot of folks that have already traded up to a different trim level. I’m kind of regretting getting my SR5 because it’s missing certain features like memory seats, a/c seats, a garage door opener etc. Just wondering what the most popular trim level is for those that have traded up already. Also, how have trade in values been?

It really depends on what you’re looking for. There are lots of great features on the TRD Pro, Platinum, 1794, Capstone. Personally I went for the Limited TRD OR with all its packages. I wanted the OR drive modes (multiselect) with locking rear diff. Drawback with the Limited trim (for me) is the intensive dechroming which was fun, but costly.

The SR5 has some great aspects too however (matching front moustache, color-matched door handles etc). You can upgrade your SR5’s garage door openers easily! Just slide one on the visor lol ;) Memory seats are overrated for me, I’m sure many love them, but I never use mine. Heated and ventilated seats are great I will admit. If you do upgrade, I’ll be curious re your decision and the trade-in numbers you find!

TRD Sport SR5 with all the packages has lots of goodies, no memory seats though. And no chrome, which to me is more valuable than nearly any option.

i went from 22 SR5 non TRD to 23 1794. they basically had two of the same 1794 in celestial or MGM and i got to pick which one i wanted. i would say getting an SR5 fully loaded is pretty close to the 60k price tag of the platinum or 1794 at msrp (location dependent). i dont regret it but i sure wish there was a platinum on the lot when i was trading due to the color matching of everything. but after a month of riding around in the 1794 i've gotten use to the chrome. it's tastefully done and i thought about changing it out but i can live with it.

Limited OR is good price with good options, I’ll add to this with an edit. Price is the factor, I would have loved a 1794 OR or a TRD pro but those are 10k and 15k more before tax then the limited OR. I did put 10k into wheels tires and suspension but I would have done this on the higher trims too because I like to do that stuff. Buy what you can afford.

best trim level is what each person is looking for if you do your research.

those that trade up / down is because they didnt research the features of each trim level correctly.

To me it's what I can afford. So SR5 is good fit for me now with a few upgrades. I would probably be fine with a Taco but like the bigger truck. I ride my bike and hike off road and don't need 4x4 although it would look cool.

In most cases it goes like this: The "best" trim level is the one I own (the responder/commenter). Don't you know how internet forums work?

Toyota has pretty much operated under this trim strategy with all of their trucks & 4runners for the last 5-10 years: The SR5 is the "volume" trim and the Limited trim is the "primary" trim.

In all seriousness, what I consider to be the "best" and you consider the "best" are rarely the same. The word "best" is subjective. I would recommend you list you out the options you think of as "needs" and start your shopping with the trim level where those are available. Then list out your "wants" and keep going up in trim level to what you can afford. Then you've arrived at your "best" trim level. Simple. Based on what you listed, it sounds like interior creature comforts are your primary driver so I would suggest a well optioned Limited or perhaps a Platinum.

My personal "best" trims go like this: SR5 or TRD Pro. Personally, I would never own a "luxury" truck like a Capstone or Platinum, but that's just me. I'm too hard on vehicles for those expensive interiors to last very long. The TRD Pro interior is still a bit much for my tastes, but the capabilities are awesome for stock. I went with the SR5 TRD OR because I knew I was going to gut the suspension and kit out the truck with my own build. So I didn't want to pay for stuff that I was just going to end up selling for pennies on the dollar later. :notsure:

Based on what most people do here with their trucks, The SR5 Sport is the best trim. It comes with color matched mustache. The most important mod / feature of them all.

I feel that you're right. Most people would let a $50k-$60k purchasing decision hinge on whether or not they want to replace or wrap $800 in plastic trim on the front.

We test drove an SR5 to a Capstone. I had my mind made up for an army green off road but at the end I ended up ordering a platinum. My wife and newborn was a lot more comfortable in the platinum and suited all our needs. I’m happy and wife is happy and that’s all that matters :)

I went with the 1794 and couldn't be happier. The list of standard features is quite good and it's the best trick I have ever owned. Previous to this I had a 2019 TRD Pro.

This wil be my first ever toyo,I have always been a Chevy guy but had enough of the constant work and up keep on it.Any how,I ordered a Capstone a couple months back with the advanced pkg with options on board dash cam,the oem lift, spray in bedliner and then 35's.
When the dust settles I'll put the CBI Covert bumper, rolling /locking bed cover and cat back exhaust...
At this point in my life I've always wanted a top trimmed truck with all factory add on's with their warranty.
    Just my .02

I want a hybrid for the extra power and the better re-sale value. But I, like some, don’t need all the comforts of the much higher trim levels. Trucks now-a-days are much nicer than I need with many more features and comforts. So I’m going limited HV since it’s the most basic trim I can get the hybrid. Furthermore the color options are best on the limited IMO (lunar rock). I know I’m going to upgrade suspension, wheels, tires, and add some protection (front bumper and full skid). I can do all that plus de-chrome the truck and be right at the cost (or save a little) compared to the next HV trim. It’s all in the eye of the beholder.

Everyone thinks the trim they bought is the best trim

…then they proceed to try and make it look like a Pro :D

Yeah the pro is the best looking trim IMO. So if you can get the pro look and more performance for less money, wouldn’t you be crazy not to?

Call me a pro wanna-be or a cheap stake, maybe I’m both. I just think it’s the best of all worlds.

While I like the Platinum look, I agree with you about the Limited HV. That combo may be the best value of them all.

I think the Limited gives the best of both worlds, with plenty of options available. I started out with the Limited but it was missing a few things that I really wanted, so I traded it in for a 23 Platinum. The Platinum is not available with any OR package its built more for comfort and style, it's one of the best riding trucks I've ever owned. But best bang for your buck would be the Limited, with lots of options available (if your willing to wait for months), but I would not trade my Platinum, I'm old and now its all about the comfort for these old bones!

    Lots of stuff!
We have the TRD off-road Limited and it has a lot of options but I miss the headlights and tail lights from the higher trims. Having the hybrid option would be good for running around town and towing.

Except for the interior. (Shudders). I know it's got a ton of fans...but that red interior. It's an assault on the eyes. haha. Just one man's opinion though.

I agree. Traded 22 Limitrd DC TRD-OR for 23 Plat Hv CM Adv Pkg as the Limited was missing features and non-hybrid. I'm old too and looking to my future of comfort.

P.S. The TRD Pro is over rated!!!

If I was to do it all over again (I have a silver SR5 4x4 5.5 CM, TRD OR premium) and given the more widespread availability, I'd probably go for a strippo 4x4 Platinum in Silver, with the only option being power running boards (Don't get me started on how Toyota has the gall to charge extra for floor mats on a $65k truck) . Not likely now though as I'd take a $6k hit on a practically new truck, which I like just fine.
