Any personal recs for tire cleaner to bring back the black shine? Two of my new tires have brown color from what I am thinking is brake dust.

Would also like a good wheel cleaner rec for non-metal surfaces. Need to bring back the black in the wheels too.

Stuff you guys have personally used.

Brake buster from p&s double black I put it in a pump sprayer that has foaming capability and then a nice soft wheel brush for both tire and wheel, works great and no harsh nasty acid in there so it doesn't stain the wheels at all I also cut it 1:1 with water to get a little more out of it

Tons of people love Brake Buster....I never could get the dilution right. I really chalk that up to user error, since so many others have been successful using it. Recently I tried Hybrid Solutions (Turtle Wax) wheel and tire cleaner, and was pleasantly surprised with the results. It left my tires a nice, flat black, and was the first step in my process for preparing a tire for a coating. I've watched several videos on the Auto Fanatic YouTube channel, and have seen him clean tires with mineral spirits to prepare them for a coating....just food for thought

For the record......the brown you are seeing is not brake dust. What you are seeing is called 'blooming'.....its a residue left from an anti-ozonant that is leaching out of the tires.

Can you elaborate more on blooming? Defective tires etc??

Adams Graphene Tire Dressing will turn them black in a heartbeat. That stuff lasts quite a long time. I tried it for the first time back in July. I didn't apply it again until last weekend.

Maybe that isnt a solution in the gallon, I think it may be extra to fill the 6oz bottle. I think I misread the description.

The gallon is a refill. I don't like dirty tires so I can tell that this stuff is awesome. Put it on, let it sit for a bit and you are good to go.

Shine Supply Wiseguy is hands down the best tire cleaner I’ve ever used. It works on wheels also.
As for tire dressing, I like Gyeon Tire Express as the best all around and longest lasting dressing. Only thing that I think is better is Waxaddict Tyre Feeder, but it’s a pain to get.
For ease of use, Griots Black Satin in aerosol is my go to.

I used the new Mequiars Ceramic tire shine yesterday. It looks so shiney it looks fake!! They look like you waxed the tire. It looks like a coating that could be peeled off. They do look amazing but time will tell how long it lasts? It came in a small spray bottle and I did all four tires and have 1/2 a bottle left. So personally I do not think it is worth the price. I did come to the conclusion if you are going to do your tires do it when the rims are dirty, the overspray lands on dirt. I will get better pictures when I finish doing the rims and truck but it is so hot out even early in the morning!

The last few days have been from 111 to 125 real feel in the sun and it’s supposed to get worse this week!! Yesterday morning it was 111 in the Sun at 9AM!IMG_4598.jpg

Much like a ceramic coating for the paint, prep is the key. They basically have to be clean enough to eat off of, if you have any expectation of longevity. I have a few folks that really like that shiny look....keep us posted how long it lasts

Sonax with a soft wheel brush is the best I have found so far. I use simple green on the actual tire. Then I use 303 tire stuff with several passes, I like most os 303 stuff.

I am looking for more of a matte finish, can anyone recommend one. I have been leaving my tires raw after washing, and I think it looks good, but I'd like something without leaving them glossy.

Griots Garage makes a satin finish for your tires. That’s probably what your looking for to not be too shiny

This is what I use....in the aerosol....only aerosol product I've ever liked.....does go on shiny but sits down to a matte finish....its not a true coating...somewhere between a coating and a dressing as far as durability

Here is the finished product after it’s been on there a few days. The new Mequiars ceramic tire stuff and cleaned the wheels/rims.

For over 25 years on multiple vehicles I've always used what used to be called Westley's Bleche White now is called Black Magic whitewall cleaner. It completey emulsifies all road crud, old tire shine and brake dust. I'll apply it, give it a couple of minutes to kick and then scrub the sidewalls with a good stiff bristled brush. Rinse it off and the tire looks like new when it dries.

I used Bleche White...until Black Magic took it over. In my experience, the formula changed and it was less effective than the original
