    2023 Tundra SR (bare bones)

So obviously I messed up. Purchased 4 Cooper AT3 XLT 295/70/18 and a 1.75” Leveling kit thinking I knew what I was doing. Installed everything

when tire store finished they parked the truck and did-up paper work and I went home after 6 1/2 Hours

looked kinda good but nose was above level that’s OK until I went out for lunch the next day and see a terrible sight front tires we’re extremely positive camber. Call store as fast as I could. THey said bring it back.

put it on rack and after 30 min. They get me and tell me they can not align the tires. Said leveling kit and oversized tires was too much to do so. I had them remove the leveling kit still said they can’t align. But their other store 30 miles away could so out I went the third day. Same results can’t align the tires and said sorry but your tires look good. Are 295/70/18 too big for tundra SR with 1000 miles on it?

What do larger tires have to do with getting the alignment dialed in? Not like you put 40s on it.

I would take it to an actual off-road shop...or the dealership. There's nothing preventing them from aligning your truck except for their own 1) equipment or 2) lack of expertise.

I, along with dozens of others, have been running 295/70/18s for a very long time. I've had my Cooper M/Ts on for almost 14 months and nearly 25k miles. I had the dealership align my truck after I self-installed a leveling kit from a 2nd Gen Tundra. I ran that for about 6 months until true suspension lift kits started releasing. After my Icon lift went in, I had my local off-road shop align the truck. Both times it was aligned within specs without issue.

Outside of the front axles (assuming you have a 4WD...you didn't say), I don't know of any real suspension or driveline difference between the SR and SR5. The UCA & LCAs are the same, as far as I know.

On side note: Welcome to the forum!

Thank each and all of the reply’s. They said all specs would not show up and that they wouldn’t guess at it the last time. I’m only a two wheel/ rear wheel drive. Just wanted an proud stance on a work truck. Would these tires void new truck warranty? Stoped by a Discount Tires store and one of their mechanics said they could do it but so did big O. There is an off road business near me would that be my best path before Toyota dealer

    Thanks again

That's the problem then. It sounds like their machine doesn't have the alignment specs for the MY23 and they don't have an experienced enough technician to do it manually. That's why I had the dealership do my alignment in early 2022 after I put on my leveling spacer. The dealership was the only place that had alignment specs at the time.

The dealership will be able to align it or just make sure to ask the next shop if their machine has the 2023 alignments specs loaded. I'm assuming they could also use the alignment specs from the MY22 SR, but some big chain shops won't deviate from set procedure to limit their liability.

On a side note: No...your tires and/or leveling kit won't void your truck's warranty. The only thing it will mess with, warranty-wise, are things directly related to your suspension. If your dealer wants to be nit-picky, they might deny a warranty claim on something suspension related due to your spacer. However, if your head unit goes out or your AC compressor quits on you, they can't blame that on tires or a spacer.

    Too many, but not enough....
This is the answer. A real offroad shop is worth its weight in gold. Those chains are only good for alignment on stock vehicles and even that may be a stretch.

The issue is they're a bunch of retards. Go somewhere else.

And make sure you get the alignment print out when you leave.

Thanks again to all replies. I have been very wigged out from the report from Big Nick Nick O Tires

I feel as if there’s hope of not ruining new tires now, wish I had joined forum earlier

    Thanks

Local 4x4 shop with a guy that knows allignments can get that truck dialed in pretty good. (hey ask if they can do it)
I only go to the dealer for warranty work, not even the free oil changes. Wish I had better experiences... they've broken my trust too many times.

That’s great and that’s what I’m going to do this Thursday after I get money back from big O for the alignment charge and have them find loose popping noise when I slow down. Wish I could ding em for the excess wear until it’s fixed. How the &$@: can they stay in business I’ll never know

    Thanks

I got the same response from my local dealership. 1.75" level and 295/70/18s. After the alignment, they left it at +1 camber. They set toe and that was it. I took it back for a realignment, after nearly 2 hours, they called me in the back to say that was the best they can do. I pointed at the alignment cams on the LCA, which were unmoved from when I did the leveling kit and asked if they even tried. The "tech" said he was scared he would cause a pull if he started adjusting things.

I told him to set camber close to 0 while keeping cross camber and cross caster at a minimum and get the toe fixed afterwards. Within 30 minutes they had it done. I don't understand what some of these guys problems are with a simple alignment.

These are my spec sheets from my visits...

That’s it, I think, would that be close to the same numbers I would need for my little RW drive Tundra? I would never attempt to show these to Big O but another dealership with the ability to manipulate the system would get the idea, correct? I’m not savvy enough to tell them what they should be qualified to do. I can align their guitar necks.

    perfect thanks for sharing

They should be able to get yours to that number. The truck drives great at those numbers. Eventually, I'll get upper control arms to gain a little caster back, but it's good enough for now!

Good luck with your local dealer.

I had the same issue after installing King suspension.

A local alignment shop couldn't do it so I took it to the dealer. They said no problem but then had problems so I had to help teach the dealer techs on how to do an alignment.

There was not enough adjustment after my 2" front lift so I now have set of TRD upper control arms waiting to be installed.

I did go by a friend's Porsche shop and pulled up the 2022 Tundra on his Hunter alignment machine. No problem. All the data is there so I don't know what the other mechanics were doing.

The computer doesn't tell them what to do outside of normal circumstances and they don't conceptually understand what they are after, or how to make it happen. These people aren't mechanics by any stretch.

So I never mentioned that Big O left nuts loose on top of Driverside strut. Which was detectible when stoping

Coworker said I should check out a friend of his that works at a Discount Tire close to me

This guys is a good mechanic, Aligning for 22 years &$@“ that’s longer than the age of the button pushers at Big O. His knowledge and explanation of the alignment made me feel good. No print out though

Oh well I’m tired I’ll see how long these 50,000 Mile tires last

there is peace in a good forum

    thank you Tundras.com
