I have a 2012 Rock Warrior with a 3/2 leveling kit and the stock 17” rims...I currently am running a set of 305/70R17.

Is that about my max or can I go bigger?

That’s a good, basic, starting point, but I have the 2012 with 17” RW rims running bigger tires than what’s identified on that list, so that’s why I was posing the question separately. Thank you for the attempt though, I appreciate it!

Your tire size is roughly a 34", the link states with a 3" lift you can run up to a 35" so you can get about an inch bigger tire. Say 315/70/17.

The point of posting the link was that the info you are looking for is in the data.

So, I’m pretty much maxed out without cutting, but approx. a 315/70R17 may work...perfect. Thank you!

I think going from a 305 to a 315 is really splitting hairs at this point. Especially if it requires some trimming, it may not be worth it.

I didn’t see the info I was looking for, more specifically it mentions a 3” with 18” rims, because I am rocking stock 17” RW rims. Rims size, being a major dictator on tire eligibility, was the factor at the point of my post. I saw the 305/XXR18, but not the R17. Sorry if I wasn’t clear in my OP.

Thank you for trying to clarify.

That thread is never helpful to me either. I run 285/75/18 on stock rims with minimal lift and that’s not addressed at all. I wanna do 315/70/17 next go round so let’s see it! I don’t think you’ll have to do a BMC if you run tires that don’t run true to measurement(most of them) and have the correct backspacing on your wheels. +20-25. So with your rock warrior wheels you may have to run 1.25” spacers. The rest is just plastic.

I hate asking, because it’ll be a duh moment, but what’s the acronym “BMC”?

Cab or body mount chop. A common mod where you cut the mount for the cab behind the front mud flap to clear a wider tire.

Ok, not a duh moment, I hadn’t heard of or paid attention to that before. Thank you.

Common, but is it something that messes with integrity of the body at all? The reason I ask is because I tow a 6.5K trailer often (the reason I don’t have a 6”-8” lift on it currently) and would hate to create added “stress” to the truck.

If it’s done correctly no one will know
But you. But yes you are chopping part of the front cab mount off. I haven’t ever heard of any problems resulting from a CMC. But I’m sure it’s possible and I know a lot of folks don’t like the idea. I’d buy the tire you want first and then make it fit with the least amount of mods possible. It’s not like you’re gonna damage the cab mount or the tire as long as it’s reasonable. Usually for the tundra if your offset is correct you’ll be fine without it up until around a 12.5” tire. Even some smaller running 35x12.5 tires don’t need it (BFG for one) if the backspacing is correct (+18-+25). So for rock warrior wheels you may need some small wheel spacers and fender trimming but I bet you’d clear the body mount with a 2-3” lift.

Fair enough, it looks like a significant piece of metal, but I don’t think it would bother me at all. At this juncture, I’m weighing the “is the 305 to 315 small jump worth the BMC”. I truly appreciate the information.

My guy charges between 150-250 to do it depending on the complexity of the plate you want welded back in. I haven’t done it yet fwiw. Got weld on sliders and front and rear bumpers two separate times and contemplated it both times.

Just a heads up, I believe Discount Tire allows you to exchange tires for a few days after purchase if they don't fit.

And a good local tire shop will let you test fit one!

2013 RW with RW wheels 3/1.5 lift running 305/70R17’s and had to trim the skid plate plenty of room front and rear. 35’s will fit with just skid plate trimming.. the RW wheels +50 offset is the key. I choose 305’s for a little extra room for chains, hard hits off-road, and to keep the power loss down to avoid regearing..

2012 with RW wheels and duratrac 315/70/17 with 5100 on the top setting. Very slight rub on the sway bar at full lock. I am seriously considering 305 next time...I think it actually looks better not jamming the biggest tire in there but you probably have bit more lift...it’s close enough that tire brand choice will matter even in the same size
