    Hello everyone,

A question about tires: got my stock TRD Offroad with 265/70/R18 wheels.
What is the biggest tire size I can put on these same rims (18") without needing a lift?

The dealer mentioned it can support a 35" tire without a lift, just want to verify before buying something that wont fit.

    Thanks everyone

285/75/18, thinner 35s work. If going to 35x1250 need a level up front and rim width/offset is key

34’s with no issues. 35’s with some trimming and tying back of the fender liners.

no, new gen has lots of room for bigger tires. Check out the wheels/tire thread for the 3rd gens. And answers above

295/70/18 with 18x9 +18 are a great look on stock suspension kept my mud flaps on with a small rub on full lock, seriously best setup without lift.

I know you don't have the 20" TRD wheels, but with them I am able to run 35x11.5r20 Nitto Recon Grapplers with mud flaps, and 0 rubbing..

I just got my new shoes today.
I did the 2" Amazon leveling kit; Method 705 18" +18 offset; 295/70R18 Toyo Open Country AT3. Same result as @Yaboy above.. just a small amount of rub on full lock. My local tire shop couldn't readily get the 35x12.5 and I'm so glad, I really love the 295's.

I just put 285/75R18 on the stock SR5 TRD Offroad Wheels. Its a 35 inch tire but only 11.5 inches wide. No rubbing.

Yeah, stock suspension. I've been waiting for my Wescott lift for about 8 weeks now with no shipping information.

I'm running it. This isn't saying much but it's 100% sturdier than the shoty welds on the Rough Country spacer. haha. The kit off of Amazon is a single piece of machined aluminum.

For $50...it's solid enough until a good suspension lift hits the market.

Looking absolutely awesome... Ordering some 705's today. Wondering about going up to 295's from my 285's.
Got any side views of the truck on level ground? Wanting to see how those fill the wheel well.

Do you have pictures of other angles of the truck with these tires at stock height? I’d like to do this too. Are the tires wider than the fenders on the stock wheels?

Sadly I don't have any other pictures. I lifted it shortly after this. With thus particular size they are pretty much flush with the rim and the fender. No poking out.

I’m about to get new tires for my 23 Plat 4x4 and appreciate everyone’s input on this thread. Now that I know what will fit I can start hunting. This is not my first go around doing this but first time gen so glad to find this. That said, I will absolutely not be going with LT rated tires. The truck rides so good that I’m not going back to rock hard, heavy tires. Performance loss from the extra tire weight is another negative that not many consider but should.

I’ll follow up with my selection and track performance changes once I put some miles on them.

I have the Nitto Ridge Grapplers 295/70R18 116S and am really happy with them. Ride is still nice and much more responsive steering. Not too heavy of a tire either as they are an S-rated tire.

I also did 295/70-18 Ridge Grapplers in 116s load capacity for nearly 35" tire look (34.3" actual) but much lighter for less hit on MPG and speedo is only 2 mph or so off from GPS at 55 mph. No issues on my TRD Pro with fender liners pinned back and mud flaps removed. Great tire. Not much else out there in that size is under 60 lbs ea. These are 52.5 lbs each.

I think you guys mean Recon Grapplers, not Ridge Grapplers that come in the 116 load rating for that size. Just curious, do either of you tow with those tires? Wondering how they perform vs an LT

Yeah, same mistake....the 295/70-18 Nitto in SL 166 range is a Recon Grapplers. I towed 5,000 miles with an 8k Toy Hauler on the stock tires which are also SL 116's so they have the same max load of 2756 lbs each. On the scales with the Toy hauler I was 14,160 lbs gross with 4240 lbs on the drive axle (vs 5512 lbs max of the two rear 116 range rear tires). I never had any issues towing with the stock tires (and have never seen tire related issues with any tundra on stock SL rated tires towing near max capacity) so figured I'd save some weight going to these bigger tires as the "E" rated Recon grappler has a 4080 lbs max weight capacity which far exceeds anything a Tundra can (should) handle due to it's very minimal payload rating. If you have ever put "E" on a Tundra you know it makes a significant difference in ride quality. The SL Recon's are definitely a little firmer riding than the stock Falkens, but nowhere near as jarring unloaded as when I have put E range tires on other Tundra's in the past.

I haven't towed heavy with them yet however so no real verdict, but can't imagine they'd do any worse than the stock Falkens. I don't normally tow this Toy Hauler with my Tundra, but on day one of the big trip my buddies F250 diesel ate its high pressure fuel pump, so we had to put the old Tundra to work. I got the Recon Grapplers partially because he uses them on his F250 (in "E" load range) and tows every weekend with a gooseneck full of round hay bales at 17-20k lbs and they have done very well. Great rain performance (unlike the KO2), very quiet for an A/T and seem to wear well.

I have used K02 (E weight range), Ridge Grapplers (E), Michelin LTX A/T2 (stock "SL" weight range OEM on 21' TRD Pro Tundra) and now the SL Recon Grapplers and I'd have to say so far I like the Recons the best for combination of looks, weight, wet performance, ride, and noise. The Michelins were the best performing on road, but just don't look as good on the Pro. Mild off roading with all of them and to be honest they all do about the same in my use with KO2 being notably worse than the others in wet and mud.

Sorry to bring back what was mostly a dead thread, but I’m trying to decide on my next set of tires and was looking for more feedback on the recon grapplers in SL. I’m also going for a 295/70r18 and I’m considering them, as well as E load ridge grapplers and Falken wildpeaks. I love the looks of the RGs the best, but I do also value a light weight tire. Are the recons still your favorite of the bunch you have tried? I appreciate quietness on the road as well, so I’m wondering how they are as you’ve gotten more miles on them since some tires tend to get louder as they wear. I do tow a 7k+ travel trailer frequently as well so the weight capacity and stability is a factor, but I’m currently using Load C good years with a lower weight capacity and have not noticed any issues with towing. Additional feedback on the SL recon grapplers would be awesome!
