About to order some 5100s everyone around me is charging an arm and leg to install them. I am planning on installing them my self. My grandfather has a lift in his shop so that’ll help a ton. But I will need a link or instructions on what to do as far as putting them on my truck.

I did it was on a 4Runner. I was hoping someone here had some pictures of what to do if not I’ll do it. I’m pretty mechanically inclined I think I can do it and if not I’ll just put it back together.

I did find them on eBay. Hopefully I can do a write up on how to install them cause I can’t find it anywhere I will make sure to add photos and might even do a video, even though I hate to hear my own voice.

Do not use you tube i made that mistake. Remove lower control arm bolts and loosen the cam bolts both on the front side. will allow you to swing lca out of the way. Make sure to remove sway bar link and move out of the way. Install new 5100 and reassemble.

200 plus what ever an alignment would cost I prefer to do things my self I’ve always maintained my own vehicles.

Thats a damn good deal. The backs are super easy, but you already have to get the alignment, main reason i gladly dropped mine off and let them install mine. Messing with the fronts wasn't worth it.

I know but I have just enough extra money to buy the shocks and my tires are rubbing at full lock I’m tired of not being able to turn hard. I’m a very impatient person so I could save up but I’d rather have it now.

I watched this video a few times as I’m going to be doing the same thing very soon.
Nothing is perfect in any video, except in Hollywood, but it gives the general idea of “how to do”.

I think it’s great when others chime in and give there 2 cents.

Good luck with your install if you decide to do the labor you’re self.

I’m about to buy these and give it a shot. When I say my budget isn’t much for the install that’s because I’ve planned to get it aligned afterwards also I’m just the type of person to do things my self. When I bought my house I tore all the carpet up put hard woods down, stained the hard woods, put new insulation in the attic, replaced all lights, put new toilets in, re did the master bathroom all by myself and had never done any construction. I believe at a certain point it’s good to learn new things you’ll never learn something if you don’t give it a shot. It has a lot to do with my dad too, when I was 12 he bought new garage doors and I said “whose going to install them?” To which he replied we are worst Christmas ever lol.

Ummm I’m not a favor of them I’d get something like these. I don’t like the way that little bolt is set up on that shaft

Edit: after looking them over again they will work. Sorry premature comment

Go to your local auto zone and rent a set of spring compressors unless you think you will use them again. That cheap stuff on Amazon doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence

I checked those are the same ones they have at my local autozone. And I’ve seen a video of a guy using the same type on a 4Runner.

I stand corrected! Just be careful. Those springs will do ALOT of damage under pressure.

This video should help a lot the only difference is I’m not running the larger suspension or need to mount to the sway bar links. Also I’m taking my coil off but other then that it should be pretty close to what I need to do.

Now I’m in a pickle and I don’t know if I want the 5110s or the 6112s. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet but I was thinking if I get the 5110s I can maybe sell them after a while and get the 6112s if I wanted them i don’t know what to do.

I almost pulled the trigger on some 5110 fronts yesterday. Autoanything has them for $260 shipped right now.

edit...I just bought a set. Why the hell not. Ended up being $245 shipped to Maine. I should see them in 2 weeks. Gonna make an appointment with my suspension/alignment shop.

I’m also contemplating getting the old man emu 2.5 nitro charger is this a bigger shock than the standard 46 mm?

If you’re on a budget I don’t know why you’re considering 6112s>5100s? Get the 5100s and pay the 200 for the install and you’re still under the price of 6112s
