Called my local tire shop today and got a quote to purchase and install front and rear 5100s on my 2014 Tundra. Price I was quoted was $1,088. Seems pretty high to me. What do you guys think? Toytec has the full set for $450. I’m no master mechanic, but I am considering installing myself now. Any input from someone who is a novice and tried to install?

Definitely seems high. I'd purchase and do the install yourself, then take it in for an alignment afterwards. Not a hard job and there are many videos online to assist.

wow... $600 just to install 4 shocks?. I had a local shop install the 5100's, do an alignment, and mount and balance 4 tires for under $500.

I got a second price from another shop and it was nearly $1,200. Looks like I will be buying from Toytec for $450 and installing myself.

I'm in Canada and that's expensive for here. Bought 4 5100s at $530, no more than $300 so install, another 100 to align.
Havnt put them on yet, still debating shackles or AAL.

I have an appointment next week for 5100’s all around installed and aligned for $747 OTD. @Patriot has used the same shop and been pleased. Two other shops in the area wanted just over 1k.

4wheelparts , $140 front adjustable , $103 rear a piece , plus shipping was just under $530. They had a 10% off deal at the end of March, got the deal by calling direct, never noticed it online. That's one reason I went with the 5100s, think the 4600s were $120 a piece, plus I can raise the front a little with the 51's

Purchased 5100's (front) for $170. Local 4X4 shop install charged me $450 which included the alignment cost.

Must be a Canadian thing (Toronto area). I've obtained 2 recent quotes from shops which are dedicated to truck/4WD mods. Lowest: 2 front adjustable 5100's, plus 3 hours labour, plus alignment and including taxes at 13% = $1,014. The other shop $1,300 before taxes. The lowest quote priced the shocks at $236 per shock vs $170 per shock for the higher priced quote. Decisions....decisions. In my younger days I would have done it myself...now the old knees are just not up to the task.

Thanks. That's a really good price but as OR18 TRD pointed out it is likely the shop is going to make some money on the parts. So it would appear I either have to do it myself or suck it up and stop complaining about the price.

Is it similar difficulty with the 6112's and 5160's in the rear?

With the 6112, wouldnt it be an easier install.....have to remove the whole assembly and install a total new coil assembly? No messing with spring compressors. The rear would be the same.

I had 5100s installed all around on my old Titan and labor + alignment was $300.
