The automatic shut off on the blinker is not sensitive enough. I end up driving down the road with my blinker on for miles looking like an ass.

Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity?

I have a 2002 V6 SR5. The only time my blinker stays on is if I didn't make a complete turn, like turning down a "Y" that isn't a full left/right hand turn.

Turning left/right at a stoplight or stop sign will turn the wheel enough to engage the return of the blinker arm on the steering Column.

I'm not sure you can adjust the sensitivity or the stops on it.

How’s your alignment? Is the steering wheel centered when the truck is going in a straight line?

If not, the turn signal cancel pin on the back of the steering wheel hub won’t cancel the signal after a turn.

Used to suck on my Suzuki. Got a Harley and they have an auto shutoff. Just another reason I love my Road King

Rides straight. Steering wheel is almost straight when driving straight, maybe a little cocked but not much. They shut off fine making 90 deg turns it's just merging and shifting lanes they stay on. Would be nice if they were a little more sensitive to that but maybe that's just how they are....kinda sucks because my other cars shut off so I never think to check the blinker and end up driving with it on

It’ll never happen with this truck. As @landphil stated, it’s a mechanical system as opposed to newer vehicles that are a mechanical/electronic hybrid. My Uncle’s Chevy will blink 3 times if you don’t engage the mechanical portion (where it clicks in and holds the lever).
Once the lever is fully engaged, it uses the mechanical portion. There are aftermarket solutions to add self cancellation to motorcycles, but I’ve never seen anything for cars/trucks.

I'd add there are 'smart flash' solutions like this available from 3rd party vendors like Diode Dynamics which turn your blinker stalk into a two-function unit: Tap the lever and it flashes 3-4x, or use the lever the standard way, pushing it 'til it locks on and wait for a turn more than 45° to cause it to mechanically stop. It's worth mentioning also that the number of flashes with DD's Smart Tap product can be adjusted, and it also helps with hyperflash problems should you go all-LED lighting.

However, you also need to realize your truck will soon be 20yrs old. Tech like smart flashing, auto-dim highbeams, smart wipers didn't exist on trucks 20 years ago. Hell, you can still find trucks without those features today.

One of the two things I wanted most in my truck are smart flash blinkers and the ability to tap-down on my wiper stalk to have it auto-wipe 3x. I'm sad the latter doesn't seem to exist... or maybe I'm not looking well enough.
