Anyone have this issue before my blinkers and reverse lights weren't working found the gauge fuse under the dash was blown so I swapped it and when the truck is in park the blinkers will work but as soon as I put it in reverse it blows the fuse. I checked the reverse bulbs one looked maybe blown so I took it out but haven't replaced it yet. I put another fuse in and still popped. Does the bulb have to be in? Anyone have this issue wondering what else I should check and where? Thanks

Yep, a few members have had it happen. And in more than one case, it was due to rear tail light housing bulb sockets being effed up.

I take it you have factory 7-pin trailer receptacle, and havent spliced in any stuff back there?

Nobody used stupid shit like scotch-locks on your rear wiring or anything?

Do you happen to have anything tapped into the reverse feed, like a backup camera?

Sorry for the peppering of questions, just want to cover all the 1st bases that come to mind which may help isolate the issue.

I had to replace one of the taillight harnesses in my truck after it developed a short and partially burned.

Yes I have a back up camera and it has 2 splices on the drivers side taillight. I cut them last night to see if that’s what was causing it but still was blowing fuses. Nothing spliced in on the 7 pin.

Is the harness just a matter of unplugging the old and replacing with a new?

    Before that ...

If I were you, just to isolate the issue ... Near the end of the driver's framerail, just to the outside, it's where the main harness run for all assend activities happens. A grey plug, I think 6-8 wires in it. "Combo plug" or whatever.

Disconnect that. Replace fuse. Try again. If it's still blowing, you'll know it's between the cab and that connector, versus "somewhere on the chain". It should be obvious which wire harness is correct, and if you've never popped it free, be patient, it may take a sec.

Edit -> What 1LL above is talking about is what I'm trying to help you find. All the wiring runs from cab to rear down the driver's side framerail(ish). If you unplug that main harness before it gets to the lights, and nothing is connected out back but it blows, you may have the same issue as that dude. Great minds think alike...

Just updating found my issue a wire I’m assuming for the back up camera got wedged some how in the e brake pedal adjustment nut and was shorting out every time the camera would come on being connected to the rear back of lights for power it was blowing the gauge fuse. Happy to have found the issue after checking all connections in the rear around the brake lights
