So my Tundra is having an issue with the blower it still blows different speeds when set on different speeds but it doesn’t always blow the speed it should, for example when set on wide open it blows fast then it’ll slow way down, and then 5 or 10 minutes later it’ll go back to wide open speed again, looking for ideas on what to check to fix the issue….. this is a 2010 tundra with only 60,000 miles on it and so far it’s good mechanically but the doors will only sometimes lock and unlock and now this blower issue, seems kinda early for this crap to be happening even if it is a 10 year old truck…. Makes me wonder if I were to ever get a new one if similar issues would start with those too with low mileage…. Anyways any input welcome thanks!

Your set up is different than mine. I’m wondering if once your cabin temp reaches a certain temp that the fan speed slows down. Try setting the temp control to the coldest setting before the “Max AC” mode and see if that makes a difference. It could be your blower motor or resistor needs to be replaced. I just Had to replace the blower motor on mine yesterday, but mine quit running completely.

Yea Danny it blows ice cold but it’ll still be very hot when it starts doing this, did you change the motor out yourself is it very difficult? I’m assuming resistor and motor are under the dash on passenger side?

Both are very easy to replace and are under the glove box. The blower motor speeds are regulated by the resistor which varies the amount of voltage going to the blower motor making it slower or faster. For instance, if you were to put direct voltage to the blower motor, it would run at full speed all the time. Since your blower motor works, it’s probably the resistor. There are videos on YouTube on how to test them before you start buying parts you don’t need.

A resistor usually runs under $30, while a blower motor is around $125. It only takes about 15 to 30 minutes to replace each one and most big name auto parts stores stock both. Also, remember to replace your cabin filter regularly as well.
