Towing a 27’ 6000lb TT with a Blue Ox Sway Pro. The truck sits nicely with no sag so I’m happy with the weight distribution. I do feel it moving around back there quite a bit and wonder if a different WD hitch might help. I can only get to the 8th chain link. Not the 9th as the manual says to try for. Has anyone towed with Blue Ox and a different WD hitch with the same truck and trailer that can offer a comparison?

What is "moving around quite a bit" mean to you? Is this your first travel trailer? Does it feel excessive? Extra wear on rear axle tires?

I have the swaypro and use the 9th link (from the loose end). 32’ TT (28’ box). I personally don’t find myself having sway issues, but lots of people do complain about sway with the swaypro…ironically. I like that I don’t have to disconnect it for backing up and it’s easy to use and pretty quiet. If you’re battling sway there are probably better options out there for your WDH though if I’m honest, but I have no experience with others. upload_2024-6-22_13-1-51.jpg

The previous trailer was about 5’ shorter in length, and probably a foot shorter in height with an equalizer hitch and it was rock solid. So this one moves around “quite a bit” in comparison. But doesn’t feel excessive. Just bigger. Weighed everything and good in that regard so I don’t think the rear axle is overloaded. I should mention I really only feel it when the wind slams against it. Maybe the EQ hitch would calm that down.

Sounds like you have experience and it's just a bigger trailer.

How many adjustments have you tried? Sometimes the smallest adjustment makes all the difference.

If I'm seeing this correctly the Blue Ox does offer some sway control but I don't think it's the kind I want. I see it as a spring steel rod that resists bending but when released starts a decreasing oscillation. Like a car antenna. I've seen friction bars but every one I've looked at had play in the ball and socket joints. Plus those friction bars were placed so close to the ball I don't think even under the best conditions could really do much. The fastway and Equalizer hitches prevent sway in a proactive way. That's what I run and it works well for me.

Those are the two I have run in the past. Can confirm they work well. To be honest, couldn't tell the difference between the two except price.

I have a 27' 7500lb camper with 1000lb tongue and the Blue Oz does an amazing job. Something you need to be sure is that you have the correct size arms, you can tell by the dots on the bar at the end with the clip. Believe 1 dot is good for 750lbs, 2 is 1000 lbs and 3 good for 1500lbs. I had to move up to three dots. I also use the highest link with I believe is 10. I have no issues and love the unit as compared to my old E2 Equalizer unit. Definitely recommend going to the 9th or 10th link

I was able to get to the 9th link and it was noticeably better than the 8th. I will try for the 10th. It’s pretty wild seeing the arms bend like that.

What size bars you have? How many holes or dimples are in them? I also tie a zip tie around the link of the one I’m using for quick reference.

    Just adding an opinion:

I use a Blue Ox on link 8. Tracks excellent and has very good WDH. It is easily the best system I have ever towed with and I find it very easy to hitch up.

Compared to Reece, Anderson and a few others, the Blue Ox felt I unlocked how towing should feel.

Now if I could only convince my wife that a supercharger is a safety feature

One other quick Blue Ox awesome: it’s the only system that I have used that allows me to open the tailgate while hitched. It just barely clears the trailer jack.

I have the 750 lb bars. I weighed the tongue packed for travel at it was right around 680-700 lbs on the Sherline.

Excellent, sounds like you are right where you need to be. I made the mistake of starting with those since the manufacturer said it would be in that area, not even close. Mine checked at 1000lbs and my bars were actually bend out of line. Luckily I found a great dealership along my path as we headed out West to Yellowstone and instantly things started to work like they should with both sway and sag.
