Hey fam, newbie here, just bought a 2010 Tundra Platinum with 130k miles. Carfax shows it had front pads/rotors done about 15k mi ago.

Anyhow, I noticed that when braking, I have to push pretty hard to get it to stop. I'm coming from a newer Ram and also drive my wife's car - both have really easy braking (as in imagine your heal is on ground and you softly push on the brakes with your toes to stop ~5-10ft/lb of force).

With the tundra, I have to lift my leg and push 2-3x harder to stop (imagine leg in the air and doing a leg press ~40-50ft/lb of force).

    Few questions:
    1) Is this a normal tundra design because of the age and weight of the truck?
    2) Could it be bad fluid or a bad booster?
    3) Could it be the rear drums need adjustment because it's only front-braking?
    4) How hard do you have to push on your trucks? Can you toe brake or do you have to lift your whole leg up and press like I do?

    Thanks in advance!

    Shouldn’t be that hard.
I would start with a simple bleed.

shut the truck off and pump the brake pedal. It should get quite firm. If the pedals sinks you prob have a bad master cylinder. If it is spongey then you prob have air in the system.

I just tested my coworkers 2017 Tundra brakes. I was definitely quite suprised by how much pedal travel it had compared to my 4runner. I am having the same issue you are having because someone allowed the brake reservoir to run dry while bleeding it.
