I searched the site and couldn’t find any other threads about this. I have a 2013. About a month ago the emergency brake light on the dash started to come on intermittently. I checked to make sure that the pedal was fully returned. It is. The problem kept getting worse and now whenever the key is on, the light is on. Everything seems to be working correctly. Does anybody have any ideas what I should be checking and/or replacing?

You’re the man! That’s exactly what it was. I didn’t realize that the same light is the warning for low brake fluid and e-brake engaged. Thank you!

You made a good suggestion. Unfortunately the code reader I have access to didn’t reveal anything. However, another poster suggested low brake fluid and that was right.

I check under hood fluid levels every weekend. Takes maybe 2 minutes....

2 minutes every weekend is 104 minutes a year. I’ve had my truck for 8 years so that would be 832 minutes. I spent 1 minute fiddling with the parking brake, 5 minutes posting the question and 5 minutes reading the responses and replying to them. I guess that puts me 821 minutes ahead.
Sorry, just messing with you. You’re advice is spot on, but it sounded so much like my dad that I had to rebel a little. I hope you take it in the spirit intended.

It would likely be wise to check the condition of your brake pads sometime in the near future. When you fluid gets low enough to turn the light on, often that's due to the pistons in the caliper being pushed way out (from worn pads).

Ditto on the brake pads worn.

Ditto on the brake pads as well... I would be cautious if you do your own brakes as topping it off, while pushing the pistons back in place can cause the tank to overfill and bathe all your components in the general area with brake fluid...
