Brake Light on Dashboard Stays On

    2014 Cobalt Blue Tundra TSS
    Hey Guys,

    2014 TSS with a brake light that stays on. I don't use my parking brake and I have pressed and released it, so I am not sure why this indicator light is even on.

    Anyone experience this besides me?

    This and also actually checking the current quality of said fluid. Could be up to level BUT contaminated, meaning might have lost it's hydrophilic characteristics :monocle:

    A note of caution. When you do check the fluid level, if you find it low, be careful about just topping off the Master Cylinder. Just about all modern automotive hydraulic brake systems use some type of float sensor in the MC to trigger the warning light when the fluid level gets too low. If the system doesn't have a fluid leak in a line or caliper, then that warning light is trying to tell you to check your brake pads. These systems and fluid levels are calibrated this way. Just filling the MC will turn off the warning light, but the worn brake pads will still be an issue.

    Also if its not a bulb, before you get caught up in all the brake fluid stuff, check to see if your brake pads need replacing. Thin pads drain the reservoir of fluid but once you replace them the calipers wont extend as much and the fluid level will rise. If the pads are fine you may have a leak. as @TechWrench said

    It reads nothing about the brake lights..

    Brake system warning light (warning buzzer)*1
    • Low brake fluid
    • Malfunction in the brake system
    This light also comes on when the parking brake is not
    released. If the light turns off after the parking brake is
    fully released the system is operating normally.
     Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact your Toyota dealer.


    *1: Parking brake engaged warning buzzer:
    A buzzer will sound if the vehicle is driven at a speed of approximately
    3 mph (5 km/h) or more.
