    Hi,

Got a Red Flash of the Brake! warning for actually just a moment, .5 seconds....
I thought it was warning me to brake but a little research seems to suggest an issue with the brake system. Fluid was topped off....

Any clues what could cause this and best approach to figure out? 300 miles later no further warnings...

    Concerns?

    Thanks!

If the word BRAKE comes across the screen it’s the Pre-Collision system warning.

I thought so but there was no impending threat. Going 35mph city street in light traffic. A good 6 car lengths in front and just one car to the side. I kinda felt I was drifting just a hair but didn't even hit the white line...

    Well that was it!

A quick internet search suggested it's a brake system failure...perhaps I found the wrong vehicle manual.

    Thanks!

Could have been a bird or even an insect at just the right place at the right time to trigger the instrumentation.

You are good...mine has done that before. The camera saw something that it didn't like I guess....just doing its job.

That’s the pre collision system. What do you mean, “fluid was topped off”? Do you mean the reservoir was full upon inspection or did you actually add fluid to it?

The system is not perfect. It can and will make mistakes.

My truck has done the beep with "BRAKE !" but there was something in front of me. But I think your truck was warning you it thought you were going to run into something, but it didn't apply the brakes because the object it thought it saw it couldn't see anymore.

Mine has gone off before, but I could see the reasons for it. One time it actually applied brakes for me. I was on the interstate and there was a sudden stop of traffic - 70 down to a full stop in just a few seconds, after cresting a hill that blocked my view.

I’m glad I found this thread. I feel better now. I’m driving around a curve and it just beeps at me and all I saw was a red flash for a fraction of a second and I’m like WTF is that.is it activated by the TSS sensor or the camera in the windshield ?

Depending on the bend of the road it might of calculated you were gonna hit the person next to you. I have a bend in my neighborhood where the left turn lane is perfectly aligned with me and if someone is sitting there it goes off everytime I drive by.
