The dome lights in the 3rd Gen are absolute trash. Are there any other options?

There isn't shit out yet. I have hated these lights since I got the truck, even reached out to meso customs to see if they were working on something. And, because of the style of lights there is no swapping bulbs out on these either.

You can go aftermarket for the footing area If your interested. Plenty of options for them depending on what you're looking for.

Here is what I had in my last tundra.

    https://store.xkglow.com/catalog/pr...-light-kits-for-cars-xkchrome-smartphone-app/

Easy to install, very durable, app works great, you can change brightness and color. I did 1 strip under the dash in front of both front seats, 1 strip under the front seats facing forward, and 1 strip under the front seats facing back and it was plenty bright.

I was hoping for something plug and play also. You would think you’d be able to use the ones from prior gen. Why would they refresh a new type of bulb

I usually just use the flashlight on my phone, if I need more light, which isn't too often.

Can someone tell me what's the purpose of floor lighting? Is it for finding French fries that get away from you? Or is there some other useful purpose?

LOL. I figured Eurodriver likes floor lighting for staring at his perfectly pedicured toes.

It's kinda funny what's important to some guys, and not for others. When I test drove my 3rd Gen, one of the first things I asked my salesperson was if I could permanently turn off the cheesy blue "mood" lighting. I'm almost embarrassed to have a few of my buddies see that silliness.

On the bright side, I got a kick out of startling the guy who loaded my truck up at the feed store, today, when I hit the tailgate release button as he was reaching for the handle. Haha!

I was gonna let this one go, but....here I am. LoL
I did this a while ago, and even though it didn't generate an interest @ the time of posting, my own reasons for the "mods" are valid and I use these 'features' extensively.
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/how...esy-lights-from-white-to-red-and-more.110270/

That thread outlines how to change door lights to red, but also how to add overhead console and footwell lights.
Now, I run "reds" but obviously anyone can sub them to bright white, or color-changing strips/etc.
I camp and fish/boat enough that nighttime "stealth" at the boat ramps is something I've paid attention to for a long time.
Ever seen 1000 bugs buzz around a dim (or any) light at night? I don't want this inside my truck, so I run red leds at night, when need be.
Everyone has their own uses and desires however-to each their own.

    1 thing to note however:
I had "Meso customs" white/red leds for overheads in my 2017 Tundra, and while they were great, they were bright as hell.
It was cool initially, then we got used to it....but now, in my 2022, even though OEM map lights are weak, I would not want bright white lights overhead again. I think these give enough light (would be nice if they were in fact a bit stronger, but dimmable). With Meso or aftermarket bright LEDs all you end up doing is squinting any time you use them at night, and kill your night vision (if only for a while). Even my wife got annoyed after a while.

So, in the end, I spend a good amount of time adding red LEDs to overhead console and footwells (installation is time consuming and truly custom in the OEM overhead console), to run them automatically when any door is open, have them off completely, or on as I wish - they do serve a real purpose to me.
If all you want is some bling, or just "brighter" lights....think twice, the novelty wears off after a while.

They did away with the USB's in the back of the console? Just one of those Lil plug-ins is bright enough for people in the back and not that bright that it's interferes with night driving... I will try to get a pic for those with the inferior gen 2.5 like me...

The LED replacement bulbs for the OEM 194 dome/map light bulbs are available from Diode Dynamics. They come in different levels of brightness. I got the HP5 (brightest ones). They are $10 each!

Yeah those aren't swappable dude. Those lights aren't 194's or any bulb for that matter. Should use the search function and actually read a thread before you post info that isn't true.

I was gonna say get your money back from DD but their site doesn’t list interior replacement bulbs.

I will stipulate that I am far from an expert and I did use the search function and it wasn’t helpful to me [in this case,] but I did consult DD since they are considered knowledgeable in their field, according to many people. I’ve purchased light bars, new fogs, and turn signal bulbs from them also. I find they have excellent and friendly customer service. When I asked the Service Director at my dealer, he informed me the OEM bulbs are indeed 194 bulbs, and the DD website says the HP5 bulbs (or however you prefer to call them) are replacements for 194s. I have still not found anyone who has attempted to or actually replaced them, hence my inquiries here. But I didn’t come here to argue with anyone, so if you want to believe I haven’t been doing searches everywhere, that’s your choice “dude.” I will attempt to replace them and if they aren’t correct I’m confident I can get a refund from DD…It’s only $20, not a big deal.

Awesome! I hope you figure out how to swap in a set of bulbs to the circuit board because a lot of people have been trying to figure this out:

Here are two threads I searched real quick and you should share your solution there when you figure it out:

I agree 110%. Meso had the best dual color (red/white), bright maps and dome LEDs on the Taco. Not sure they were ever available for 22+ Tundra. https://mesocustoms.com/collections/3g-tundra

I wish we had Vic’s! Hate the explorers but the new tahoes are nice (as long as you’re not paying for the constant repairs). We also have f-150/250’s.
