Just picked up a new to me tundra. Is this fixable? Maybe cut a metal plate and JB weld it in?

I took it to an auto body shop and he told me to get a new door and he'd paint it for $2,000

jb weld is not holding that. Easiest and safer option is to find a door at the salvage yard and just replace it. It you know someone handle with metal fab and welding, they may have other options.

Around here you’d be able to find a new door for less than he wants just to paint it and get it painted for about 800 bucks.

That’s a catastrophic failure for sure. I suppose you could try to get someone to fabricate A plate to hold the bracket but I am pretty sure getting an unobstructed angle would be near impossible And cause a binding of the hinge

Doesn't like like a part failure. looks more like either the door was bent out too far, or someone tried to cut open the
access opening with an air chisel to remove the hinge.

Looks like the a gust of wind caught it or someone backed up with the door open and caught on something.
    Try Cirtifit http://www.certifit.com/
As I remember I paid $90 a door for my 89 Toyota and am about 90% sure they would have one in your year. A cheep Finlander would weld in a new plate paint it and call it a day.

I would look on https://www.car-part.com/ and see what a used door of the same color cost in your area. If you can find a used door in good condition that is the same color that will be your cheapest/easiest option. I have done this several times on other cars and it worked out perfect.

The other option would be to fabricate a plate to bolt/weld on the outside. That would be cheaper but not the easiest thing to do.

On my rec cab tundra the doors are massive and my drivers side door clicks whenever that door jam thing is sliding though the door at the detents. It drives me nuts, I spray silicone lubricant in there once in a while and it quiets it down. I thought for a minute yours might be reg cab too as a gust of wind would certainly rip it out!

Me too! Just got the truck and it came like that. I'm guessing either heavy wind or backed into something with the door open.

I've found tons of doors on car-part, but they are beat up or a different color. It's the color matching cost that killed me. I asked if I literally just take the junkyard door in and have them paint it and that was $500. I may try to paint a replacement door myself. Always wanted to learn :)

    Not many yet, mostly stock.
I’d keep looking for a good used door, in today’s market they can be found. Then I’d get the paint code# ,call R&E paint at 800 316 6595. Ask them to make up a few raffle cans of paint, ship them to you. Use some 320 grit sand paper, wipe down the door and jam area to make free of grease, contamination. Tape off anything rubber, hand sand it down, re clean for contamination retape it off and spray and paint color on the new door jam. Let it dry swap out doors. Then take it back for out side paint to be completed. That should save you some money. You can utube this on how to remove repaint etc ...
    good luck
