Third week with my 2023 platinum and noticed that the paint is bubbly and rough all around the truck on the bottom of door panels. Is this normal? I only feel this type of rough bubbly paint around the bottom of the panels. I don't have this on any other one of my vehicles!E71969B6-59CC-4FB1-8D21-BD043A2A31D9.jpg E3375CCF-F799-47BC-A76B-FD004D6FF73F.jpg 9E981CF1-8959-4EC6-9AE2-BAFCF89A02C5.jpg 36D6D5F8-E9E5-441D-BC06-40E06A851436.jpg

Nothing to worry about. That's intentional.

Have it too on 2023 1794. I think it's some kind of chip protection.

They started applying this at least as early 2005, starting with the Tacos. It provided excellent paint protection for my mine.

It is intentional. It is an anti-chip layer that is applied before paint process. Trust me, you want it there!

Like all have said, it's normal. My 2000 4Runner had it as well.

Let me guess. You washed the truck and were looking at it in the light only to realize it's not shiny on the bottom 10% of the door panel. You bent over to see if it was water, maybe it froze because it's below freezing out. Then you starting thinking that you got "one of those" tundra's with paint issues that you have read about on here. You were about to email the dealer, then you went on here to find the answer....

This might seem oddly specific because this is what happened to me this past weekend after about 1 month into owning a 23. I looked online before freaking out, and analyzing images of other trucks.

Heavy texture chip guard, I have a 1987 Grand National w/Org paint that has it along the bottom of doors as well as all the GM trks I have owned and my current 14' SR5.
