Disconnected the battery for 24 hours while I replaced the steering wheel. Not sure if the disconnected battery was a factor here. Now I'm receiving several malfunction messages. See pictures. Techstream shows C1433. I used Techstream to reset the memory, run test mode and cleared C1433. The malfunction messages and C1433 immediately came back while driving. Techstream > steering angle sensor > stays at 0 degrees when I turn the wheel. See picture. Techstream > Zero Point of Steering Angle stays at a constant -3072 degrees. Is there anything I should check before I replace the Steering Angle Sensor? I’m thinking the clock spring should be okay as the horn and all the steering wheel controls work. Any assistance or guidance greatly appreciated.

Might have to do a zero point calculation on the yaw sensor.

My bad. You said steering angle sensor NOT the yaw sensor.

Sounds like you need a recal. I doubt the sensor is bad.

I followed an older set of calibration instructions. In essence, use Techstream to reset the memory, run test mode and then drive for 10 seconds at 25MPG. Interested in knowing if there's a newer set of instructions for a 2020 Tundra.

Circling back on this. I ordered an aftermarket Steering Angle Sensor from E-bay and couldn't calibrate it. Then I ordered a used OEM Steering Angle Sensor and was able to calibrate it. Buyer beware.

What would be the most affordable scan tool to purchase in order to read/clear steering angle sensor codes for a 2020 Tundra?

Autozone, O'Reilly's, Advance Auto, Etc will typically do it for free. If the intent is to purchase a scan tool, then someone else will need to chime in.

They couldn’t read the codes. I bought a scanner that “was better than the ones they use” per the O’Reilly’s employee. It was the Innova 5210, it didn’t support the 2020 Tundra. Neither did the FOXWELL NT510. Bought and returned. I have a spiral cable and angle sensor coming. I’ll install it and have a shop do the recalibration (if needed).

I talked to a buddy of mine tonight that runs a Discount Tire store. He's gonna bring home one of their scanners they use...

So I have a Xtool D7 and was able to clear all of the codes. Then after 5 minutes the Trailer Brake sensor, the Pre Collision sensor, and the traction control light all come on. I don't believe these have anything to do with the steering angle sensor so I think all of those codes have been remedied. Any idea as to why the remaining codes would come back after 5 minutes?

I did the same thing. Replaced with heated steering wheel. Steering angle sensor went bad. [internal circuit] Ordered SAS from eBay and can’t calibrate it with techstream. Says SAS initialization incomplete. Took to Toyota and they think I have a bad clockspring and wasted 4 hours of my time plus $200. I think I just need a legit steering angle sensor. About to give up on heated steering wheel and keep stock. Code c1439 c1445

Forgot that I also had 7.5amp fuse blow in lower left fuse panel. OBD fuse. I tried paper clip method before realizing it won’t work on 20 or 21 models. That may have blew the fuse. Lights are off every time I crank mine until I go over 30mph then vsc/traction light comes on

I was able to solve all my issues by recalibrating the front sensor behind the Toyota emblem. Took all of 5 minutes. You located anywhere in So Cal?

Here is the tech stream code list. The Toyota dealership could not get it to calibrate. This is with the cheap eBay SAS.

    Did the sa
I purchased this and was able to calibrate and set the parameters back to 0. I did buy the SAS from the dealer though. I had one from Ebay and couldn't get it to reset but that was before I purchased this device and ran through the procedures that I posted earlier. It's pretty simple and straight forward. I paid $360 for the SAS
