So I went to the local pic a part. Got a cab mount $7.00. Mine the rubber deteriorated and it sounded like a door was ajar. Drives me crazy. I can’t get the bolt out. Help !! Any tips or advice would help. Thank you.

Have you tried heat and when that's done more heat?

Not yet. I have map gas torch. I’m a little intimidated by that for reasons I think the rubber will simple and burn. I don’t have access to work on my truck outside. I live in a condo and it’s not allowed. I will do it as a last option. I have to get this thing off.

Take pics. I don’t think anyone here has done this swap before. I’m interested in the how/to process.

I think PHM had a good trick, if you can get a drimmel in there, score the bolt all down the length, then take a cold chisel and basically open the nut, cut up into the rubber so you know you’ve got all the nut cut and ready to be smacked apart/open

My choices are.1. Dremel. But, I can’t cut that metal bushing vertically. I could cut it off as high up as I can, but then what ?
    2. Pneumatic impact driver from the top.
    3. Heat.
I was ready to push it over a cliff yesterday. So I figured I would take a break today. I just wanted some opinions.

Oh is the nut already off, or what secures it? Pound it up if that’s just a bushing. But yes on the big Bertha impact

if just the bolt is stuck in the metal bushing, get a brass drift or a dead blow or something and just start pounding it up and out

Hammer the chisel into a groove you’ll make with a Multi-tool or Dremel.

So I thought that was the nut, but I think that’s just a bushing that is the full length of the rubber. I think the nut is off but just the bolt won’t come out, I don’t know if an impact from top would do anything more than just break it free, then it could be pounded up

I thought this job requires jacking the cab up off the frame a bit?

Yes it does to remove any insert new mount. That’s the easy part.

Yes that’s the bushing that was housed in the rubber mount. I already pounded it. Put a bottle jack under it. Pumped it up until the rear wheel was almost off the ground. Nothing.

I think the problem with this is getting the dremel to cut it vertically. I can’t fit it in sideways.

I replaced the right forward mount and bracket while repairing my frame and once I got the nut off, I soaked it with penetrating fluid and was able to beat it straight up and out. Didn’t need any heat on that one. Perhaps a good soaking, or throw a little heat on it and then immediately hit it with the penetrating fluid.

How did you soak it. From above. Or did you spay it directly. Or maybe I should just put a bucket under it and spray the shit out of it. Good tip. I’m going to try this first.

Break the bolt loose up top with impact?

Isn't the bolt simply rusted/seized inside of the spacer? You'd think if you can get it broken loose up top that you should be able to pound it right up easily.

Heat is the next best here, but I can understand why you wouldn't want the burning rubber smell in the complex.

I sprayed from the top and from the bottom. Make sure to use a quality penetrating oil, like Knocker loose, kroil or PB Blaster. Applying heat will help the oil wick into the threads, if you can heat it up. Heck, drive over to the Walmart Parking lot and give it some heat, and spray it while its still hot.
