Curious what everyone's thoughts and experiences are on using a cabover camper with a 2nd Gen. Seems like there are two different thoughts on this: 1) people stay under the payload capacity of their vehicle, or 2) people haul any weight they want with added airbags, extra leafs, swaybar, and e-rated tires.

I found a steal on a cabover camper near where I live in AK, but I"m apprehensive about purchasing it due to the weight. The dry weight of the camper is 2000-2400 lbs, I expect it will be 3000 lbs fully loaded. This is way over the Tundra's payload and seems like way too much for a half ton pickup in general. I thought I'd check to see if anyone here has hauled this much weight and what their experiences were like.

The camper is a Alpenlite Laramie 850 for reference (pretty similar to a Lance 850 camper).

For a cabover camper you're gonna need a truck with full-floating axles and 8-lug rims. So F-250(or GM, Dodge equivalent)minimum.
