I made a post a few weeks ago talkin about wanting to get a leveling kit. Either Billstein 5100 or the 6112’s. I am leaning more towards some type of coil over set up now. I want the look but I also want very nice ride quality. Stock it rides pretty good but this is our road trip/family vehicle and comfort goin down the road is paramount. What’s the best set up as far as suspension goes for comfort?

I wonder the same. I actually have icons on my 04 Tacoma and was never that impressed with the on road ride.....they are only set at 2 inches also. I do mostly road driving.

I got the Eibach pro shocks for the front recently set at 2" with the OE coils and I honestly think it rides better than stock.
    Ride quality is subjective though.

I asked my wife what she thinks and she said "it feels like it soaks up the bumps better."

Gotcha. The stock ride really isn’t bad. Most certainly better than my last truck. Can’t really complain. But would like a more floaty soft ride.

If you want a Cadillac ride....then go buy a Cadillac. Seriously. It's a truck.

Now....if you want a stock like ride on highway and performance off.....then dont cheap out. I am super happy with my ADS setup.

See if you can score some slightly used Pro Shocks. I got mine with ~30K miles on them for $850 on Craigslist (Bilstein version, not Fox). Gave me the 2" lift in front and a very much improved ride over the factory yellow Bilsteins (4600's).

My friend let me borrow a Cadillac Deville DTS when he was swapping out my leaf springs, it rode rougher than the Tundra. All I have is some yellow Bilstein TRD take offs, small spacers in the front, and leafs rebuilt with the ICON kit.

You can make a truck ride smooth going down the highway, your choice of tires plays a bigger part in ride quality than what shocks you choose. If you are not spending the bulk of your time off road crawling on rocks and shit, then there is little reason to be concerned with off road performance. Set your truck up for the surfaces you will spend most of your time driving on, and enjoy the ride.

Ranch Hand Summit front and rear bumpers. Diamondback SE tonneau cover. Rigid DOT fogs. LED headlight/fog replacement bulbs. Matt Gecko hood, and bed LED's. Foot well led's, and interior LED buld replacement. (warm) Broke the front shock of the 3" spacer lift, so replaced with 6112/5160 and 1' block rear. KO 2's. Speaker replacement, added amp and (2) 10's under seat. Weathertech floor mats. Salex organizers. Ziebart undercoating. RCI front, transmission/diff, and gas tank skids received, waiting for spring install. Compustar remote starter. front/rear dash cam.
Adding some weight in the bed seems to make a difference as well.

I just did 6112s and 5160s. I'm in love with the ride. No body roll in corners, wonderful all around in my opinion. It's helpful if you describe the type of ride you want. To some toytecs are too stiff and rough, others love toytecs and way the Bilsteins are too stiff. It comes down to the individual which makes it a bit tough to recommend. If you primarily drive on rode and rough ride equates to pot holes and speed bumps, you don't want to talk to the guy that races around on the dunes or hits rough trails. Also you want to keep in mind if you tow or haul heavy things frequently. You'd hate to have nice ride unloaded and get beat to death with a trailer on. For me I rarely tow or haul and I'm more worried about rough dirt roads and keep trails. Right now I'm very happy with the 6112 and 5160 set up. I did the top option on the fronts and added an inch to the rear with a toytec shackles set t

Long travel and several hundred pounds in the bed will smooth out the ride.

If you like the ride stock you should keep it that way then. Anything you do will make it firmer. I enjoy the firm handling, but it costs me in straight line smoothness
