So leaning towards the calirasied but might be better off long run going with RCI if I decide to do skid plates later down the road. Any thoughts?

Don’t know much about Caliraised, but I have the RCI ones and really like them. Last time I asked them, they were planning on making CAT plates as well. The CAT plates would be small add ons to their skid plates and would obviously fit seamlessly with the sliders. At least I’d think so. Might be the way to go if you’re already planning on skids. Maybe give them a shout and see if there’s any movement on the CAT plates.

I have RCI plus the Valhalla cat plates and engine skid. There's a thread of mine in the general forum on how they all work together. TL;DR no complaints, and only the most minor of mods to make it all happy. But I paid a king's ransom to have them shipped from Colorado, so that may be something to factor into your decision.

I like the bigger kickout on the caliraised one compared to the RCI one. I think it allow for function as a step and etc.

I personally feel RCI reputation and quality is far superior than Caliraised. I have all RCI sliders and skids (on tundra and tacoma) since 2016 and have zero issues or complaints

I have caliraised sliders, the trail edition with the kickout. They work perfectly as steps for my whole family. The step edition ones are 2 inches wider and not necessary for function as a step. They would stick out too far and possible hit shins. The quality and design is exceptional. They are really beefy and bolt on more securely than others in my opinion. I got mine with rhino lining and there is no way to have your foot slip off them. They also work with the valhallas sheild system I have.

Lol. That was a third option. I was concerned how they would function as step because that is the primary use. I have a 4 year and short wife so want to make it as easy as possible for them if I can.

Another vote for @Caliraisedled sliders here. They worked with my RCI and Valhalla skids

I had to drill a hole in the brackets for the rear cat plate, but it was super simple. I want to say that @Classy63 mentioned updating the design though so you didn’t have to drill.

They work great as a step and are regarded as the best/toughest tundra sliders on the market.

As far as the design update, not really, but I do offer Z brackets for sliders, you would still need to drill the hole for the bolt though

The good part about drilling the hole with the caliraised is that it will make both the slider and the plate stronger with the additional fastening.

It's a love/hate with my RCI sliders. Aesthetically they are great. Functionally they are great. For sure very strong. I love the added width toward the bed, it really helps with access. I opted for the added plating and powder coating. I wanted to be sure the wife and kid wouldn't have there feet falling through.

The hate comes from the build up of mud/snow/ice. This is largely in part from the plating. The plates do have many holes but if its cold enough or the viscosity of the mud thick enough, shit just builds up.

I went hunting in November and traveled through lots of snow and eventually some deep mud pits. Temps got below zero and when I would go to open my door It would have resistance from rubbing against the build up.
I failed to pay attention the passenger side of the truck and it became so built up I couldn't get the door opened. It was like that for two days and my wife would have to get in the truck from the driver side. On the third day I decided to chisel out the shit, it was incredibly sketchy and I ended up leaving a coupe marks on the sliders.

I guess if the plating was not at the start of the door it may allow shit to fall through.

I’ll also vouch for wkor. Painting my top plates right now. If you’re worried about how they’ll work for a step, I can tell you that hey protrude out further than factory running boards.

I'd consider Westcott Design's sliders too if you're looking for quality work. A few different configurations - HREW or DOM, MIG or TIG weld, top plates or not, black or clear powder coat (or none at all)

That is pretty interesting RCI is considering cat plates.

I already had RCI skid plates and before purchasing the CCM Cat Security Plates I contacted RCI asking them if they were planning on making their own cat security plates.

They kinda blew me off and said there wasn't much of a demand.

I guess they changed their mind.

Just a word of caution for anyone buying skidplates. I bought the CBI full 3-piece skid and while for protection there is arguably nothing better but for cat protection it leaves gaps so a human s&%tstain can get the mini Milwaukee sawsall in there at the front of the cats and remove everything out the back. Pretty much every skid out there has this problem except the Valhalla which from pictures seem to block this area. I added small pieces of stainless sheet and riveted them to extend the sides of the middle plate so now I'm good but just be aware that although many claim cat protection most can be easily beat with the small tools the scum future prison pillow biters can get to.

Yeah, I dont really like cali raised business. Had a weird interaction with them last year on a stupid small purchase (right angle camper tie downs). They waited weeks to ship it, I found another solution, then they wouldn't return without a restock fee. Said it was due to the texas winter weather, but I had ordered weeks before the storm.

This was a 26$ purchase. Not how I would treat people, and not how I would want to be treated.

Maybe it it was my fault for not ordering in time, but I really didn't like their attitude about the whole thing. I'll stay far, far away from their products for ever and always.

Definitely have your sliders put on first. You can't install them with valhallas on the truck. The z brackets come with the rear plate. They go on top of the slider, and right over a slider frame clamp hole. You will see what I mean. Simply drill a hole through the z bracket. Also since the z brackets are over the slider, they will be further from the actual plate so you may need some spacers or washers to fill the gap.
If you are not doing the install, have them put the sheilds on with the sliders. Or else you will have to remove a frame clamp and drill yourself. The slider installation really isn't bad if u want to save some money.
