Hello all, greetings from Iowa, first post here. So I have done some research and so far I have found out you can't put a trd pro grille on any 2018 tundra models because of the sensors? I know all of my sensors are in the toyota emblem on the front of the grille which kinda sucks. So yeah im just wanting to know if I can put a trd pro grille on my 2018 double cab? Hopefully you guys have some good news for me?

Yes you can put the Pro grill on the 2018, there is lots of discussion bout this. Try the Search function. My recommendation is to buy the Jomax Customs bracket to relocate the radar sensor. I have used that one, the Ares original bracket and the 3D printed bracket and Jomax worked the best for me.

    Welcome from NY.

Yes you can but you have to relocate the sensor.

To avoid any warranty issues and for the best OEM design and function I would Highly recommend going with the 2019 TRD Pro grille. It is a more costly route but in my honest opinion it looks better and it has the OEM relocation for the PCS Radar. Some guys have had great success with there dealers allowing them to install it without warranty issue.

You could but there are a few caveats. There is a company that has been booted from here watching, and changing up things in cadence with information available, so this will be simple, not interested in helping them by proxy. The sensor and round garnish(these are actually called a radome) are designed to work together like peanut butter and jelly, and is a pretty ideal scenario. The 2019 Pro sensor is a different part number, as it is different internally to work with the Pro garnish and is a more difficult scenario. Toyota spent a good bit on the Pro to make it very small, and it incorporates at least 2 visible specialized design features that make it work. The garnishes are insanely priced for a reason, a lot going on there. There is a huge flaw in putting the sensor behind the old Pro grill, and another lesser flaw as well, again not helping the ignorant. I have also seen claims the radar is just adaptive cruise, it is not and cannot be in a single camera system. Now the nasty, so whoever is selling an off road only safety system mod for brand new trucks is an idiot by default, how many off road only Tundras you know of? Now after that, you release all rights, responsibilities against the seller, and assume all risk while being informed it could be big trouble to purchase. When you install that on your vehicle and drive it, you signed off on knowing it’s for off road use only, released acknowledgment that the mod is not DOT legal and can malfunction, it’s called gross negligence on your part. Front end collision if your at fault, regardless if the modded systems fault, will get you, and the company that sold sued beyond belief. Finally you will see the claim that it needs recalibrated, and then passes a test, it will in that controlled environment, but it cannot account for the scenarios that will cause false readings. Toyota says do not touch it, no wiggle room, and they are alerting dealers not to touch any vehicle with TSS mods. This has nothing to do with @ARES , he is a very talented fabricator that hopefully pursues more viable products for our trucks. Weigh it out, talk to your dealer. If you read this whole thing thanks, the whole system is proprietary, this represents 2 years of difficult to find research.

You are fine with your grill, the system can be recalibrated perfectly fine on lifted trucks. Mine is lifted and recalibrated. Works perfect.

First of all, welcome from San Diego. Everything mentioned above is true and great advice for anyone willing to listen. The short answer is yes you can. Should you? Well I’d recommend doing the research and making your own informed decision.

Didn't need a relocation bracket or recalibration of the sensor. Not one error and I love the look. Good luck. Do it!

    That looks awesome.

OP, as you can see, people are doing it.

Have you considered paint matching your front end? That’s what I did and it looks a ton better. Haven’t done the bumper yet. I think the 2018 honeycomb is BA looking so just kept it

I have ZERO issues with mine. Over 10k miles with bumper, over 5k with grill. All of the TSS crap still works as it did day one.

Made my own bracket and relocated it to the lower colored portion below Toyota just off the center towards the drivers side. It’s mounted to the core support that runs directly behind. It’s roughly 1/4-1/2 inch behind the surround as it sits.

I don’t think your post was confusing at all. The safety systems in these trucks are anything but simple. It’s good for people to know what all goes into the R&D. So thank you for sharing your knowledge! Poor OP didn’t know he was opening a can of worms with his first post haha.
As for the truck, I’m pretty happy with how it’s coming along. I added the color matched handles and mirror caps, I was torn between that or black but really like the way it turned out. I’ll be adding some more black in other places so I think it’ll balance out. Painted end caps courtesy of you, thank you again!
I was actually looking at your build page the other day, might have to take a page from your book with that suspension set up...

So all you did was leave the sensor as is and put the new grill on?

Yes, it goes on with the two screws you remove from the original grill.

Does the 2019 insert fit inside the 2018 surround? Or do you have to use the 2019 surround and have it painted to match?

GREAT info in this forum gents....
Does anyone have a recommendation on where to purchase JUST the PRO honeycomb (grill insert) and Garnish? Everything I seem to find online includes the shroud and sometimes the buldge.....both mine are color matched (pictures attached) and I'm wanting to simply change from the split honeycomb with circle toyota logo, to the solid honeycomb and "Tundra" lettering like that of the PRO grills.

    Mine is a 2018.

Any and ALL advice is welcome especially if you know where I can sell mine & purchase the PRO honeycomb& garnish. Thanks20220206_104625.jpg 20220222_125504.jpg

Nice ride. Let me see those pics after the change. I’ve thought about changing to the TRD grille but somehow the sport grille is attractive too.

Well if I can find JUST the honeycomb grill portion and the garnish needed for the TSS sensor for a good deal I'll snag it and post pics for sure.
