I think 2019/2020 did away with the option to easily personalize the wallpaper. I see the factory options in CarPlay, but I would like to put my own picture up there.

Interesting. I hacked the infotainment center on our 2017 Fiat 124 which uses a Mazda system and it was very easy. I'm anxiously awaiting for someone to figure out the Toyota system.

just skimmed over the whole owners manual and multimedia manual and they took it out. on the old toyota's there was an entry in the manual on how to upload a picture for when the screen was off or during startup.

Yep on these 22’s seems like they went out of their way to make individuality and customization on certain things much more difficult for sure! Besides this, a custom tune (there are piggy back type tunes right now like jb4 & VR, but no real tunes to maximize the fuel/air/etc yet because of the new computer set up), speedometer correction tools for larger tires (again new computer sounds like for now blocks all this stuff and companies have not worked around it yet), turbos located in the back of the engine and very hard to get to and change out for upgraded ones when someone comes out with them, etc. In time I am sure people will figure it all out and we will have the options we all want….:fingerscrossed:

the screen off/startup customization wasnt really a big deal since i usually have mine off (saves image burn in) anyway. dont listen to radio and occasionally listen to spotify on the way home.

just prefer the quiet time when driving to from/work anyway.

you be surprised how much you learn from the noise a vehicle makes while driving it. on my 4runner i can hear the spare tire chain making noise when im driving 73mph.

Screens don't burn in like they used to. That was mostly a CRT thing, anyway. You can drive around with your screen on for years and even decades and there will be no artifacts.

I have been wanting to do this as well. Since I updated my phone I no longer have a red wallpaper that matches the TRD accents in my truck. Not the end of the world, just something I liked.

Can you believe there is a generation of kids these days that have no earthly clue what a CRT TV is, let alone how much one of those bastards weighs? They will never know the pure joy of moving a 32" flat screen CRT TV up 2 flights of stairs.

um screw that, i did that once on moving it out of the house. that bastard must have weighed 200-300+ lbs. took 3 people to move it.

think it was a 32" CRT proscan

I know this is old but I am using this thread rather than creating a new one. I searched to see if there was a way to upload a background image to the 14in screen but only saw this post.

Anyone find a way to do this yet?

I did it to mine, but I forgot how I did it…I’m following to see if the person who helped me comments on your post…all I recall is that you have to find the image you want and download it to a flash drive, but it has to be a very specific name on the flash drive…I have an 2018

Yes you can do on the Gen 2.5 but I was wondering if anyone has gotten it to work for the Gen 3.

Loved that feature on my Gen3 Taco. CarPlay only gives you about 10 colored backgrounds to choose from. That would be a great CarPlay App though!

Read on one pages here that they are removing the turbos through the wheel wells instead of removing the cab.
