659BC3D6-6704-4A17-BAA2-E1A8DFC6F9B8.jpg Came back from lunch to this. Can it be fixed? Doesn’t seem like a big dent. Can’t tell if its scraped or not. Could be just paint transfer. Really sucks because it’s less than a year old!

If it's dented I can't really help with that. Wash the area first with car soap. Then use some car soap, all purpose cleaner or even a quick detailer and use a magic eraser to go over the paint transfer. Finish up with some polish on a microfiber applicator or towel to clean up some of the finer scratches.

Looks like that paint transfer will come off with Turtle Wax rubbing compound. Do not use a magic eraser....they can be abrasive if not used correctly.

Yep just bought some meguiars compound. I have a DA so should work good. Found a PDR guy who has excellent reviews.

for paint transfer, have you just tried using lacquer thinner? And assessed if there is any actual dent/ding?

It's possible that it will come off easily using the compound and a cloth.

As others have said, looks like the paint transfer can be removed with rubbing compound followed by finish polish, using a machine polisher will yield the best results. As for the dent, you can use a paint-less dent removal service. I've never used them myself but I've seen the results from a friends car door, and it's not expensive either.

One of our neighbors backed into my brother-in-law 4Runner and left a scuff on his driver front door, no dent though. I just buffed the area with rubbing compound and an medium pad followed by finish polish on a finishing pad, just like new. Down side was he wanted me to do the entire vehicle lol

Last week I saw that someone had transferred some blue paint onto the cab of my truck just behind the rear door, luckily it wasn't dented. I just used some rubbing compound and a microfiber towel and the paint transfer came off easily. Then I applied some spray wax to the area. You'd never notice. The truck will get a full detail in the spring.

Also has the greater chance of introducing micro marring and haziness resulting in a blotchy spot on panel.

What really sucks is how high up the door it is, only tells me another large truck did it. I can't stand dings/paint scrapes, even on my 2001 4Runner so I park away from others!

You’d be surprised how a quick wipe in the general direction “grain” of transfer, followed by IPA wipe will do. Or even IPA alone. Followed by sealant and wax of choice.

this is done all the time in body shops on cured clear coat…it is really effective and time efficient to assess what is or isn’t needed for for panel correction…

I had the exact same thing happen to me a few months ago, though I was lucky in that there was no dent. The paint transfer was worse than yours, but the local shop was able to get it off for about 20 minutes worth of work and a 10-spot. :)

Will pulling this dent by means of PDR damage the paint?

PDR guy for $300. Happy with how it turned out. Don’t even notice anything except a very minor ding now that you would really have to search to find.
