    Hi,
Have a 2015 1794 Tundra, and innocently purchased a new filter element for the cabin air filter(50,000 miles in 2 years suggests it's needed). There are at least 3 how-to videos on how to do it. Instructions for new filter say you need to put it on "Recirculating Air" then turn off engine, which the videos don't say.
I have opened 2 of the 3 access doors needed to pull the old filter out......inside the glove box.....have spent over an hour trying to open the 3rd door. Won't come off. In the vids, it's a 5-second operation to press on the 2 releases that open it. Can't figure out what the hell they actually did. Depress them, then lift, push, pull l., pull r., pull back. Has anybody here ever tried to do this? The %&^%& thing seems to be permanently closed.
I must be missing somethin g.

I just squeeze the tabs on each side inward and pull straight back.

2018 Platinum here, just did mine, took about 5 mins. Broke off one of the glovebox shelf tabs in the process.

Yeah, I've never had any issues. Hardest part is getting all the junk out the glove box to access the door.

Maybe a photo of your issues and we can see if we notice something not right

Thank you for the quick replies. The thing just seems immobile no matter which way I try to pull. Have even tried prying up a little w/ a mini pry bar, though it sounds like the top of the door needs to come toward me. It's in a confined area a little hard to see. Looking w/ a flashlight reveals an arrow that points up................which may just be a reminder which way the element goes when inserted. I'll try again(I did 2 more times). Maybe it's gummed up a little/too cold/too old. I feel like I'm trying to open a Federal Reserve vault door(something I've actually done, legally, with a combination years ago, long story). Wish it were just a twistlock or velcro instead. For me -- it might as well be a Mosler safe!

It was a pain this first time I changed mine, now it's easy. Silly, overcomplicated design if you ask me.
I tossed that shelf in the trash! One less thing to mess with when changing the filter.

Also, if I remember right the print on the filter reads upside down.

Finally got it today. You couldn't do it with your fingers. You had to use needlenose pliers to pull one of the tabs toward you. The filter after 42,000 miles was opaque. As I learned from Kansas Power & Light at an energy conference in 1971..."filters do an increasingly better job of filtering out dust and dirt the more clogged they get - they just stop admitting air after awhile."
