Hey guys, I was reading a thread about this but now that I've signed on I can't find it. I have a 2015 Tundra TRD and today my sun-roof opened to the "vent" position while it was turned off and sitting in the driveway. I changed my battery more than a month ago - so I don't think it's related, but I don't know. Now the switches don't react at all. I have the front of my truck jammed into my wood shed so snow doesn't get in.

    Please help.

First maybe check in owners manual and find the location for its fuse and check it.

    Merry Christmas

Go to the search, type in "sunroof not closing" and check the "most relevant" button. Found 3 different posts on this problem. Good luck!

There is something about the sunroof having to be reset or something after a battery change or disconnect. Saw it in the manual the other day, I'll try to take a picture for you

Not a problem, I was skimming through and saw this and was a little perplexed about it, glad it became of use to someone though. Hopefully itll help more people as well for battery disconnects and changes.

Thanks everyone! I REALLY appreciate your help!

I tried the hold-the-button thing several times with nothing at all. The button may be the problem. I also checked the fuse and it was good. (Thanks for posting the fuse-panel picture! Mine is missing and I had no guide. I'm going to print it up and keep it in the truck.) Then I called my mechanic and he suggested I disconnect the battery for the night in case the computer needed to reset itself. I tried that and this morning after connecting the battery and starting the engine - this part is weird! - about a 1/2 second after starting I heard the moon-roof move for a fraction of a second and then THE ENGINE CUT OUT. All this lasted about one second. Then, after restarting, it was back to no reaction at all. My mechanic said I could bring it to him and see if his "check-engine" reader picks up any notices, but he was doubtful.

I may have to bring it in to the dealer ... uhg $$$$ :-(

Good luck! Let us know how it shakes out. Hopefully it will be a simple fix.

Okay guys, This is what seems to be the problem : I live in northern Canada, so, about a week ago we had our first cold snap and it went down to -22 F, after that it warmed back up and it was then that I had the problem - condensation.. My mechanic had suggested that I try warming up the cab of the truck to dry out the switch, so I pried it out of it's hole and left it dangling by it's ribbon for a day ( I should have simply unplugged it and brought it into the house ) anyway after a day it worked again. So once the roof was closed I unplugged the switch and brought it in to dry it out thoroughly. I'll put it back to fill the hole in my truck but first I'll unplug the fuse. I don't want to take any chances of the roof opening in the winter. I'm trying to find a new switch now. Not sure I want to trust the old one anymore. We'll be in Florida in Feb/March and I'll want to use the roof then, so I'll be wanting a new switch before then.

I had a similar situation happen this summer while in Nebraska. Was 45f and raining for 2 days then a warm front came in overnight and it was 80f and raining by 3am. It was so humid and foggy you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face. Over that drastic temperature change night, my rear window completely rolled down by itself as well as back passenger window. The rear window went back up fine in the morning but rear passenger switch was fried and i had to diagnose this in the rain before a 4.5 hr return trip to CO. Using a volt meter to attempt to fix, just the simple act of pinning the harness with a voltmeter caused the window to roll back up, this was with the key out of the ignition, wtf...drove back to Denver, replaced passenger window switch for $13 and problem solved. You’re not alone...
