This morning I couldn't unlock my 2023 Platinum by touching the door handle or buy clicking the key fob button. I unlocked it with the key then the alarm horn went off so I relocked. The truck was new in November so I can't imagine the fob battery is dead so soon. Any ideas?

I'd have tried the second key fob but of course I don't have one!

Replace battery and try again, rather than ruling that out first

I bet it's your fob battery. I got my truck in November and my fob battery is already weak.

This happens to me when ever I use the app to unlock then lock the truck. The key fob won’t work until I lock the truck again with the key fob

I did a reset one day by mistake on the big display and left the wife in the truck with the fob. When I came out of the store the display read "place fob over start button" once I did that the truck started. Guess it wanting to set that fob to my settings?

Try opening the fob, pulling battery and putting it back in. Worked for mine after getting low battery in key fob warnings.
I checked the battery voltage with a meter and it was fine.
Bad contact/oxidation is my guess. Been fine for months now.

It was the battery. That’s pretty sad it only lasted 8 months. My other car’s fobs last 5 years or more

My wife's 6 months old WRX had fob batteries fail in 4-5 months. I think the fobs try to communicate with the vehicle too much when they are within range parked in the garage. Subarus manual has a section about putting the fob in sleep mode to conserve battery. Technology....

^good point, the truck key sits just across a window from the truck. I’ll start keeping the key farther away.

I can’t remember if it was the truck or the app, but was telling me the battery was low. Since it didn’t last long I bought a 2 pack with a spare in the truck. Will be going through them at a good rate.

Mine died also within a year. I'll try the tips posted in here, thanks!

Another tip is that when the fob died, I couldn't start my truck because it didn't recognize a key fob was near...after the alarm was sounding for 15 minutes and a phone call later, I learned that you need to use the key fob to push the start button and it will start as normal ‍

Just minor stuff. For example, Undercover bed cover, Tufskinz custom door sill protectors, and TRD air filters.
On my 2020 Avalon and 2022 Tundra you can turn the key fobs off. Push the lock button, and while holding it down, push the unlock button twice, then release lock button. The red light will blink several times letting you know it’s off. You can check it by trying to open the door. It shouldn’t open. Pushing a key fob button will reactivate it. IMO, the batteries are cheap China made crap and don’t last long either.
