I was having my 2018 Tundra serviced at a dealer yesterday and was told that there was work being done to provide an Entune update that will allow car play to work with the stock system.

Said I would eventually receive a letter describing this upgrade/update.

    Anyone else heard of this?

    Thanks in advance,

    Mabry

Any projected release date? That would be awesome. I travel for work all the time and I really prefer Apple Car Play in all the rental cars over Entune.

Fingers crossed, but I thought I’d read a while back that our hardware wouldn’t support an Entune upgrade that adds CarPlay.

not a Tundra but this was done on my 2018 Camry. It came stock with shitty JBL entune 3.0 and Toyota released a software upgrade. Now I have CarPlay and love it. No Android though.

My local dealer’s SM told me it was available now so I made appt. After two days playing with Techstream the master technician gave up and said it wasn’t yet available. Fingers crossed we eventually get the upgade.

    I specifically got a 2019 instead of a 2020 because I didn't want android auto. I know, crazy.
I had it in my WRX and my Renegade, and I hated it. I didn't use it, so the stupid thing would ding every few minutes telling me to connect it. It would jack up my maps app that I was using for navigation, and I just didn't like it at all. I'll be sad if it's retro added, cuz I could have just got a 2020 and had the push button start, remote start, and smart handles that I wanted.
