    Hey everyone,

Just found out I will be a dad this year. I have an access cab and was wondering how that backseat is going to handle a car seat if possible. Any photos is appreciated.

Did just fine for me. I put on Pass side so i could move seat forward some for clearance.

The real issue is when they are old enough to be forward facing and wont stop kicking your shit....

    And Congrats!

I think it depends on how tall you are. I think a narrow rear facing would be ok in the center. I would hate to be the person riding shot-gun with any car seat in an access cab.

My 2 year old is in one of those convertible types, but the narrowest we could find. But because the back has a slope it doesn't fit in the rear seat well. Basically the bottom of the seat hits the back of the arm rest and her feet rest on the arm rest. Mine has the bench seat.

Long story short, car seats don't fit in cars very well. Unless you have a van or a single cab.

Another thought would be to go to a walmart or some place with a good return policy. Buy the car seat you think you want, install it in your car and see if it fits. My wife has a '13 Outback and a rear facing took up so much space, the front seat had to be in grandma mode to make it fit.

    Good luck!

I have two kiddos. We put the rear facing seat in the center and my oldest has a booster now so no issues there. I did put the rear facing seat behind the driver seat once. I won't do that again. There just isn't enough room to do it comfortably.

I heard they raised the age limit again on the age of kids in Car Seats. 12 years old now.

It's getting a little ridiculous. My oldest is 7 and just barely meets the ht/wy requirements to use a booster instead of a high back. We still have her in a high back in my wife's car. If they don't quit raising the age she won't be out of a car seat until she is in the driver's seat.

Ha, when I was growing up all I had between the metal dash of the mighty Dodge and my face was my moms arm. I think I had more bruises from her slamming me with her arm than if I had of shot forward to the dash. Seat belts, what are those?
But seriously, we must protect the kids and car seats and seat belts are a good invention. But I made it okay somehow and I've been riding motorcycles for all of my adult life, used to ride with no helmet. Yikes, haven't done that in a long time.

I have three kids under 4 in the back of my AC. A little tight for my wife and me in front, but the kids all fit in the back when my wife's SUV needs repairs.

You just need to avoid the bulkiest car seats to fit three across.

I have the bench seat up front, so we plan to move our oldest up front when we have our fourth kid.
