Hello! New member and prospective Tundra owner here. I am in the process of searching for a used truck to use for biking trips where I would camp in the rear of the truck and carry my bike(s) (ideally, a road bike and a gravel bike) in the cabin behind the front seats. I have been looking at 07-10 Tundras with the 'double cab' (short backseat with the front-hinged door and side handle) along with the 'Supercrew' F150s. The latter appear to have about 11 inches more legroom and can definitely fit bikes with the seats folded up. However, I would much prefer a Tundra if it can manage the bikes.

So my questions is: Has anyone carried standard men's bikes in the back of a 2nd gen double cabin? I don't mind removing the front wheel(s) if necessary, but would like to avoid removing the rear.

I haven't actually put a bike (or two) in my double cab, but I'm pretty sure I could with the front wheel off. Two might be tight. You could remove the rear seats completely. More room that way for sure.

Thank you! That pretty much confirms my suspicions. And that's a good point about removing the seats, thanks. I'd rather not go to the trouble as I'd need them for everyday use, but it's something I hadn't considered.

The Crew Max Tundra would definitely give you the larger cab, too. Of course you'd be sacrificing bed space.

50cm road bike fit for quick trip but if you get into a roll over its not gonna be pretty. For Mtb my med size full suspension trek was fine.

just have to fold seat bottom up.

I've put 2 mens xl mtn bikes in the back seat in a pinch before. It helps to have 2 people but I imagine you could make it work by yourself. Front wheels definitely have to come off.

Thanks, everyone! It sounds like it could probably work well enough. I like the idea of the Crewmax but need that 6.5 foot bed.
