Just put it on and total install time was about 20-30 min. Sounds amazing and the drone is non existent with the stock resonators. One issue though is the provided muffler tip. It will not clamp down hard enough on the stock tailpipe. I sent them an email and hopefully hear back tomorrow. This one has to be out of spec because it literally can’t be impacted down anymore.

Be mindful if you order this system. They are no longer including the muffler tip due to inconsistent sizes coming from the factory (Toyota). Was able to make some shims for it and was able to get it tightened down. IMG_4258.jpgIMG_4259.png

the Carven youtube post says that the end tip may not fit on some because Toyota tolerances for the tail pipe end are so wide there is no way to ensure a fit 100% of the time. seem like the video says to use a shim between the end section and the Carven Tip to fill the gap.

Thanks. Yeah I watched the video they have and they just clamp that thing down. I thought about a shim but the space is so tight I gotta find something thin enough that will work. Another trip to the parts store.

Update. Took 3 coke cans to make shims and got it clamped down.

??? can you do me a favor? I need to know how much space is between the front end of the muffler where it is welded to the 3" and the nearest end of the hanger where it welded to the same piece of 3" piping. I am calling them tomorrow with a few questions and need to know if I have space to move the muffler forward and place my stock resonator behind it. My TRD Pro Dual does not have the resonator and from YT posts it seems like without the resonator the results are too loud. Thanks.

confirmed - Tip deleted from item purchase. Was there 10-9-23 and gone 10-10-23. No price reduction so that says something. keep us posted. Looks like unless I want to reinstall oem tail pipe section (has resonator) I won't be adding Carven to my system.

I guess I was literally the last one to get it. Unfortunate because it is a really nice system and the muffler tip is legitimately a nice piece. Their customer service was on point and I did get a discount by emailing them before I ordered it. Lead time says 4-6 weeks but I got in in 5 days. Hopefully they can figure out something as a replacement. I do really like the sound and very happy with it.

Decided to add the Carven anyway so it is a good thing we can change our minds! If the result is not acceptable I will sell the TRD Pro Dual exhaust and put the OEM (has resonator) back on.

    Yes. Have it (trd pro
dual) on and old oem (single w resonator) in garage. Figure I have a few ways to go if Carven needs toned down.

Gonna TIG weld a resonator upstream of muffler where manufacturer says to mount. Got a race car frame builder set to do the bench TIG weld job. Should be killer.

got the Carven - waiting on the resonator to arrive. Pics as soon as it is all together. Can't wait for install - except reservation about doing so and the fire risk recall and access to the repair location.

resonator added 3/4 inch to overall length - so I will cut 2 inches off rather than the 1 1/4 to account for it. actually it makes the oem muffler an easy add on with the collar splice if I ever need to go back or for another user. Will be interested in the sound - up stream resonator with the stock tail pipe resonator should make it very easy to like at all speeds and towing. Will see.

EDIT: Nice exhaust tone for daily driver - not so sure this setup will cut it for towing. A little too much for long drives and towing since the truck likes to gear down and keep rpm up - so likely going to swap back to oem this spring when camping/towing season starts. In Denver - DM if you want a good deal on this and are in no hurry (pics above in post #17).

since I am so old school (hand tools) it took me a little longer for the install - damn hand powered hack saw was a pain in the %# !

took a little more work to align since I went back to the oem tail pipe which has the resonator. Otherwise everything went on with no issues and hangers were all proper. Tightened all down to 65psf and will recheck in a few days. I have taken a local drive and highway drive - tone is settling-in. So different than the silent oem muffler. Carven sound is nice when under load and like oem non existent the rest of the time. Oddly I did find my hwy mileage for the trip went from 22 mpg (oem muffler) to 24.5 with the Carven - same trip, same driving habit - the straight through non restricted flow must have something to do with it. Felt like it took less skinny pedal to get to and hold speed.

Damn I can’t imagine not using a sawzall on that pipe. Ridiculous how massive that OEM muffler is. Glad you like it.

Definitely a nice tone. Little like a diesel. MPG definitely up 10% across-the-board for local street and highway driving.

at idle and when not under load it is silent. depending on amount of skinny pedal used it will progressively increase in volume - you will know you actually have an exhaust unlike the oem. I like mine but there are times (short in duration) when accelerating hard it is a little too loud. The sound clips on *&&Tube are an exaggeration unless you constantly drive full throttle.
