Yesterday, finally got some time to install the cascadia 4x4 hood solar. Installation is not difficult but do have to pay extreme attention to avoid mess it up. Now its good to know my battery is always topped off. 007FB721-A64A-4B46-9097-54059A920418.jpg

Nice. A few pics of how you ran the wires from the panel to the engine bay would be cool.

Great job and install but this is pretty expensive for only 90 watt charging (77 actually) i can get 2 - 200 watt thins for my RTT for 649.99. Like I said. great job on your ride and i hope you like it. thats all that matters.

What covers the solar panel that makes it blend in so well as a quasi scoop? How does it allow the solar to pass through?

Let me try to find one real quick.
Thank you, and agreed, I did hesitate a bit on this due to the price, however, what sold me is that it's vehicle specific and would be more friendly in terms of not needing additional roof rack or rtt for attaching. Down side is it's somewhat irreversible because I assume the glue would make it pretty hard to remove/delete. For a solar panel specifically to make sure the starting battery doesn't get drained, I think it's more than enough. I also have a separate 175watt solar panel on top of the bed rack to power my portable battery which powers a fridge 24/7 in the summer. And you are right, it's whatever works for each one and that is the beauty of customization. cheers.

I don't think there is a cover on mine, the vinyl is the layer under the solar panel before sticking it to the hood.

Unfortunately I sold the truck in two months ago, Feb 2024. The panel held up great, worked well for the 1.5 years of ownership through cold winter days and hot summer days of Pennsylvania. I would say I am 98% happy with it, the edge did have some sort of delamination in certain areas and Cascadia did sent me another brand new panel. I did not remove the old one, just used some super glue to touch up on the edge where the delamination happened and it held up great since.
