A few weeks ago my catalytic converters were cut off, they got all four. The front O2 sensors were untouched. I filed a insurance claim and they are definitely covering the cost of repairs, but the wait time is 6 months +. I need my truck, I'm currently borrowing someone else's vehicle. I want to temporarily straight pipe it with some flex exhaust pipe. My question is, does anyone know the outside diameter of the pipes coming off each manifold, and the outside diameter of both pipes coming off the muffler? Again, this will be a temp fix but I don't have much of a choice.

Not positive of the pipe size, but without functioning cats or appropriate info for the O2 sensors, your truck will throw codes and have to run in a default mode which will likely be rich. Not sure the long term implications of that, but at least you don’t have to worry about the rich condition burning out your cats :sorry:

The front O2 sensors are still functional and in place, so it shouldn't run too rich. It is my understanding that the rear 02 sensors tell the ECM if the cats are working or not. I understand it will throw codes.

Sorry to hear about the cats, my front driver side was cut out almost a month ago. We were out of town on a trip and wanted to do the same thing with some flex pipe.…honestly I took it to a recommended muffler shop the next day and they welded a piece of exhaust pipe to bridge the gap…best $70 I’ve spent, especially to get my family back home safe. I’m thinking a reputable exhaust of muffler shop could get you by until your repair.

This is likely “against the law” and most shops will probably decline to do so lest they get caught and fined not insignificant amounts of moneys. Would have to be kept on the DL. If this happened to me, I would be looking to do the same however. Probably get some pipe and handle this at home.

Hmm…true. They maybe just done it out of pity since I really didn’t have an option other than leave it in another state and fly back in when the repairs were eventually done. I did go to a nearby auto parts store but the flex pipe wouldn’t secure around the O2 sensor, it was cut so close the sensor and at an angle, not enough bite for a secure fit. Didn’t want to risk CO leaking into the cab so was glad it was welded up for the 9 hour drive back home. Hope you get it all figured out OP, sorry all 4 cats got cut. :(

I hate to hear that. I have nothing to help in the short term, but get some cat plates when you get your replacement cats on. There are a few that people here have liked.

Absolutely! What's crazy is that I had literally just bought a cat plate, and was going to install it the next day!

I would talk to Keith @dirtydeeds, he would know absolute everything about the exhaust system.

Location? Mine took 5 weeks after I was told it'd be 3-6 month wait.

If your Toyota dealership is repairing it, ask them to pay for your loaner/rental until the truck is fixed.
Mine paid for 7 months of my 8 month wait...
Insurance paid for the first month.
