Looking to mount a gun rack on the ceiling of my tundra with out going through the roof. Does anyone know what the construction of the head liner backing material is? By peeling back the weatherstripping on the rear door I can see that there is a piece of foam between it and roof so there is room for a hollow wall anchor. I had a Jeep Cherokee and just screwed it directly into the head liner with success, but the one in the tundra looks thinner. Thoughts?

I recently had my headliner out of my truck. No it will not support any kind of weight screwed directly to it. You will have to find one of the crossbeams and screw into that. Luckily there seem to be several you could grab onto.

And I second that the molle rack for the roof is such a cool idea.

At least when you go to grab it, they can't say you didn't have your hands up.

Question, did you find a noise reduction with matting the roof. I've done 80% of the cab minus the roof. want to do it, but kinda a big project if the return isn't there.
Also, I ordered the roof rack for a 17 DC and was expecting 2=4 weeks. Got shipping info today.

Huge difference when it was all done. Last summer I was fortunate enough to get to do some chemo, and that pretty much nuked my ears (tinnitus). So when it rained it was so loud inside, I had to do something. After the sound deadening mat, I also added a complete layer of insulation. Well worth the effort and time. Keeps the truck cooler also, we have found out, which is a nice benefit living in central TX

How hard was it to pull the headliner?

Not bad at all, just a bunch of patience. And then out the back window it went!!

We did the whole project in about 6 hours or so

What materials did you use for sound deadening and insulation?
Also, where is the headliner while you are doing this... I don't see a way to remove it from my regular cab.

The roof on my 2002 Tundra must have factory sound deadening insulation, by comparison the roof on my 2007 is LAF when it rains.

Kilmat, and Noico insulation. Both easily purchased on our great overlords website, Amazon

I had the headliner laying in the bed of the truck. With your regular cab, I would think you could drop the front and slide it out the door, maybe?

Looks great! I just did my doors with those same products. Working towards the floor and headliner. And ideally trying to come up from the floor to get some of the firewall.

Any advice as to a starting point for the headliner? Do I need to order any replacement clips, etc?

Bumping this. Anybody have an overhead rifle rack in a crewmax? There's the molle panels above, and I've seen the Center-lok which looks interesting but hard to find/$$$ and it says it doesn't work with a sunroof. Anything else?

Probably not that hard to fab up a simple crossbar with some quick fists that replaces the rear grab handles.

I hate not having an easy to get to location for a rifle. I would love an overhead mount

i'm looking at the Center-lok for my 2015 double cab (NOT the full/big crew cab), but it appears that the mounting would go right over the dome light assembly. Does anyone have experience with trying this?

Wish it fit with the sunroof. Looks like if it was moved towards the rear of the truck about ~1”-1.5”
