    Hey everyone,

I just bought a 2004 Tundra a few weeks ago and have been chipping away at little things to get it up to my standards. A couple bigger problems I've been having are the Check Engine Light turned on, throwing the p0441, p0446 and p0455 codes, and since I bought it it won't fill up with gas. Like it clicks off immediately, and I have to fill it super slow with the plunger pulled back by hand. It's like filling through a small funnel. Are these issues most likely related? To my understanding it sounds like I have a clogged vent hose somewhere, but there are so many hoses down around the gas tank I'm having a hard time figuring out which ones to focus on.

Try swinging it gangsta style... then look at possibly replacing the evap emissions canister, or something like that.. relieves pressure when you're filling up gas.

Ok so to confirm, a full/clogged evap canister can back up the gas filling? Anything cheaper I can check/replace first before the evap canister?

How many miles do you have on your truck? I had my CEL come on a while back for a faulty canister. I changed the valve on the canister and I haven’t had an issue since. Been about a year now.

My 04 had the same issue filling up with gas...I got my pressure washer out and sprayed everything off underneath the truck around the gas tank and it must have dislodged something. Every once in a while I hit it with the hose while washing. Never happened again.

Thats a great video explanation. Thankfully the 2000-2002 don’t have these Gas Vapor near gas tank box thingys. Toyota started that in 2003 iirc.

I have te p0441 code and can fill up fine, so you can eliminate that as the culprit.

That video was very helpful, thanks for sharing. I've ordered the valve for now, and I'm gonna start by testing both of those vent hoses tonight by loosening them and filling up, hoping that that's where the block up is happening. We'll see.

For anyone looking to replace one, the cheapest canister vent valve I found that was OEM is the WVE one from rock auto.

Ok rookie question: how do you remove the hose going into the purge valve?? The one with the weird plastic clip

Two picks on either side to lift up the tabs. Took me a good 5-10 minutes to get that sucker off

I'd start with simple stuff first . I had codes for evap system and decided to take a look at my vacuum hoses in the engine bay before I start throwing parts at it . Got myselt 10ft of rubber hose and replaced all those vacuum lines , problem fixed .received_833963564136411.jpg received_833963564136411.jpg received_536190804044004.jpg received_842902386575023.jpg

I hopped in my truck to go drop off some scrap metal and I got p0441 and p0455. I remembered this thread and hopped out to tighten my 6 month old oem gas cap. It was not snug. should I clear these codes? What should I do next?

doesn’t ever hurt to clear codes especially if you possibly found problem

Which hose was this one?? I too have the p0441 and p0455 and have already replaced the gas cap and purge solenoid. The hoses *seem* to be in good working order, but it's hard to tell.
