Damn i barely drive my tundra since I work from home. Drove to Costco today and CEL came on and Traction Control Off displayed on my Dash Display. I hooked it up to Techstream and got the P0500 code. Speed Sensor. At least its still under warranty so I'm taking it in tomorrow morning. I recently installed the remote start module wit the T-harness and hope that has nothing to do with it. Oh well .. I saw there are some people on here that had the same situation ... CEL plus traction control disabled. Keep you all posted ....

    Anyone ever had this code?

So here is the story. The dealership tore my dash apart and said basically that the speed sensor interfaces with the head unit to calibrate the speed with the GPS in the navigation and the FRAC harness is interfering with it. I can't vouch for that but with @TundraTex selling so many and not one complaint of this ever happening, I don't believe this to be the exact cause. I PM'd TundraTex and we agreed that it probably has nothing to do with the FRAC Harness. I bet they just can't pinpoint the exact cause so they said since my truck is "heavily" modded and there are many factors that come to play. That's the easy part, they then called me and said they dinged my passenger door and need to send it out. Of course, I was upset so I drove over and took pics. They said they scraped it on the lift. Geezus!!!

So they called me to pick up the truck 3 days later and I was in a rush so I paid the $160 diagnostic fee which they initially charged me $235. On the way home, of course, the FRAC harness is not working. Front Camera is just blank. I called the supervisor and got a VM, he called me back and said he will not return till Monday. So I thought I would open up the dash to see the problem this weekend. That's when I notice all this crap to my truck.

First the door they fixed, the body shop broke a tab off one of the window bottom rubber flashing so they superglued it. Here it is just hanging loose:

I get in the car and begin removing the trim. I first pull off the TRD shift knob and ITS FRICKIN KNICKED!!!

    t6.jpg

I open the center console to begin prying the center trim and THE CENTER SHELF CONSOLE I BOUGHT WILL NOT SLIDE BACK AND STUCK. THEY BROKE THE TABS THAT HOLD IT UP ON BOTH SIDES!!!

    T7.jpg

    T8.jpg

So i finally removed all the trim up to the Head Unit and found out that they broke the middle input plug from the RCA input jack from the front camera. Of course, it is now stuck inside the FRAC Harness so i have to cut the rubber protective sleeve on the FRAC Harness to get it out. You can actually see the piece stuck inside in the pic below:

I'm now thinking to myself. "Man it was so hard to get the RCA input cable from the camera pass the firewall of the truck!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:"

So I am calling the supervisor tomorrow and debating if I should email him this thread. In any case, that's my ordeal at Frontier Toyota in Santa Clarita. IM OUT!!! :annoyed:

SORRY JUST NEEDED TO VENT (AND I HAD TO PAY $160 FOR THIS EXPERIENCE)!!!

Jesus Tin that sucks so much. I, like you, would be out of my mind if I went to get something fixed and they did all that damage, made things worse, didn't fix the issue, then charged me. I hope they make it better.

What the actual fuck! I can't even imagine. So sorry man. They can't figure out the problem fine. But that doesn't mean they can destroy your truck.

This really sucks. Sounds like the dealership and the shop they sent your truck to for body work need a little managerial alignment as well.

One way to determine if the FRAC Harness VIM switch is causing your VSS problems is the following. With the VIM switch on, observe the navigation menu page while driving, some of the menu selections should be disabled or Grayed out, i.e. OEM performance. if they are, then VSS is enabled and the HU is getting the info it needs. Of course if the VSS is actually bad, and not sending data, the menu options will probably be enabled all the time, regardless of the VIM Switch position.

Let me know if I can help with any other questions you have related to the FRAC Harness. And please keep us posted on how this is resolved.

They basically reset my CEL and paid me back for what they broke and replaced all broken parts. CEL never happened again but I stay away from this dealership from now on and let all my friends know as well. Funny thing is sales people keep calling me asking me to trade in my truck. :censored:
