I've noticed that there must be two different set up's on the Tundra. I have a 1794 and the cup holders are "vertical" and there's some wasted space (or lackthereof) to the right of the cup holders. Additionally, the location in front of the cup holders where you charge your phone is angled at the bottom which makes it almost useless for anything other than your phone. On other models, the cup holders are horizontal and the area where you charge your phone is much larger where you could store other things besides your phone. Other than the ability to cover your cup holders with the lid, not sure why Toyota did this.

I've wondered this too. Our 1794 has the vertical as you describe. As the driver I have to reach over the lower cup to get to mine on the top. Or...to get to the lower one I have to really wrench my wrist to get a grip on it as the center console is pretty tall. Either way it's a dumb design IMHO.

Additionally I find that the plastic springy things in the cup holders hold the cup/can pretty tight. Good for stability. But....on day one with our new truck, reaching for a Subway cup with lid, I didn't know to pull it so hard to get it out and the lid popped off the cup spilling pop on the gear shift. Fortunately it was diet coke, so "only" left ugly colored water, no sugar to get sticky. Wife and have now officially christened our new truck :(

I have a platinum and have the same vertical cup holders . My grief with this center console is that I have nowhere to use as a base drum of sorts to music . Everything feels like plastic

I have a Platinum and have the same vertical cup holders also. Everything doesn't just feel like plastic, it IS plastic.

LOL. I was thinking the same thing about the cup holder tensioners. Bad design. Every time I'm setting my Dr. Pepper can in there, I have to angle the can to get it in there and end up spilling it. Maybe they'll loosen up over time. LOL.

I’ll save you the read, there doesn’t seem to be an easy solution. Others tried to figure out what part numbers to order without anything definitive.

Does anyone know of a modification that removed those little annoying spring arms in the front cup holders? I can't stand them. Haven't been able to find anything to swap them with or some way to have a cup holder without them!

That may be what I do. I thought maybe there was an insert or something else that didn't leave the openings. Thanks

May I suggest looking at AJT Design? They have a fantastic solution. I have the 1794 edition and swapped out the stupid fake walnut lid to gain more space and a side by side cup

I already have those cup holders. What I want to get rid of are those spring loaded "arms" that make noise and annoy me when I put a cup in the holder. hahaha

I'm constantly tempted to purchase the oversized (regular size?) cup holders, but I'm not enthusiastic about tearing the center console apart.

I really miss being able to secure two nalgenes up front.

Super easy to do honestly. Just follow AJT’s video and you will not have any issues. Hardest part was getting the shift knob off. Other than that only took about 30 minutes to swap and put everything back together

    Did my swap today.

The AJT VIDEO isn’t completely correct. The 1794 cup holder has four of the spring cup holder tabs, not two. You will not be short two of those if you do the swap.

The parts are high quality and I really like the new console’s utility with the open spaces.

AJT's video is wrong here too. All you need to do is push one of the metal tabs to the left or right. Take a small screwdriver and push the left tab to the left. Then pull up on the knob and it will come off.

Do not try and push the metal clip towards the dash. All you will end up doing is yelling at the knob b/c it won't come off.

I fit my 40 ounce hydroflask in the oversized couple holder and have no issues. I always have a hydroflask with me so the oversize cup holder was a must.

I’m waiting for my kit to arrive. Are those screw holes just for show? I don’t like them… It doesn’t go with the Platinum interior

They will not flow at all with a Platinum...thats why I stayed away. Theyve got no plans on making plain ones either, iirc.

if they’re fake, I’m going to sand them down and hopefully find a brushed overlay. Not everyone wants to these overland style products

I installed the AJT “downgrade” today in my 2022 1794. When moving the cup stabilizers I managed to lose one of the springs. Any idea how I find a replacement part number for the springs or stabilizer+spring combo? Thanks

Any play with different size cups in the oversized cup holder? Thinking of grabbing one to get two full deep cup holders.

Agreed 100%…. No need to reinvent the wheel or reimagine a simple cup holder. I just need a simple round semi deep hole to set my normal water bottle/cup of coffee or the wife’s can of pop, and go around a corner without it flying out. I really have no need for a quart of milk or 40 liter beer in my front console.
