It seems like a lot of potential storage space is missed out on in the center console area. It’s very short/low, and therefore shallow, and the footwell-hump looks like they planned for a bench seat.

Anyone know of or done anything cool to maximize storage?

Maybe attempt to swap in a double cab console if dimensions are similar? Lots of storage in those

Double cab or Sequoia console fits. Otherwise you'd have to go custom.

2003-2006 access cab consoles will fit if you have the brackets with them. may only be able to only use one bracket if the bolt holes arent in your floor pan.. but should be secure enough and clip into the dash properly.

double cab ones are a wee bit bigger but fitment is a little worse

I want to upgrade the center console. Below are pics of current console (except for woodgrain pattern) and the desired console. I checked toyota parts, ebay, google images...no luck.

They've gotta be out there somewhere....at least that's what I keep telling myself.

I did this and have been really happy with it. See my last comment on an older thread here which links you back into my more recent thread. @shifty` is right, you have to do some JY hunting. Make sure to get that bottom bracket!

Found a center console using this site, thanks. The operator said that the console (second pic from my above post) was used in the 2004 - 2006 series. Mine is 2002....he said he didn't think it would fit.

Has anyone with a 2000 - 2003 model successfully installed this console?

You can make anything work if you believe in yourself and try hard. At most you are missing some mounting points. Can work around that.

Agreed. With enough time, bubble gum, tape, and bailing wire, you can make anything work. Oh yea, $$$$ also helps. :D

Yes, at least one member here has. Make sure you get ALL the mounting brackets and hardware, especially the plate/bracket that goes under the armrest-box part of the console.

It will work. Find the bracket is the hard part.
Here are some pics of my 2003 AC with the double cab console. Sorry not the best, but what I had handy
