How long do you guys wait before swapping out the cabin and engine air filters. I know some of the aftermarket replacement filters give longer change intervals than stock.

For my garage kept rides - 10k miles or so for both filters

for the outside truck probably 5-6k ~ exposed to more crud for the cabin filter. 10k for engine.

all get inspected at 5k during oil change and tire rotation.

    note: paper filters

Open it up and look at it. I have had new air filters (engine) last 3 year or more when driving in what I'll call clean air for most of the time (Montana/WY highway driving).

On the flip side, I have mucked up air filters on dirt roads in a month when constantly in dirty air.

Call me crazy but I took my cabin air filter all the way out. Ac blows much harder without it and it’s worth it in the Texas summer.

Yes about once a year I spend 15 mins to remove the blower motor and dump a leaf or other debris out. The cabin air filter would have caught this had it been installed.

Whenever the technician mentions a replacement then just drive home and do it for 10$ using a Wix version. That or every year as tree debris begins to clog them up. Also good to check every once in a while as rodents like to live on or near the filter.

Twice a year for me I think. Every 6-8 months, at oil change/service time.

Cheap and easy to do. I figure it's overkill, but then I don't forget.

While we’re on the subject, can someone post the Toyota part numbers for these two items? I probably need to have some in hand.

I'll blow mine out with the air compressor once or twice before replacing it..
But usually end up replacing them both annually..

A tip for anyone that cares...use the cabin filter from the Land Cruiser, it's the same as the Tundras.

It is impregnated with charcoal and filters out smells as well as, the rodents don't like it so they won't make a nest out of it.

I believe 87139-50100 is the part number for the charcoal version. 87139-07020 is the regular version.

Air filter every year, cabin year - twice a year. I used antimicrobial MAHLE LAO filter, but can't get them in US anymore. Put in WIX 24483X, which has such a layer, too, but is much cheaper (and thinner).
