Changing out cig lighter for USB charger with volt meter

Happy Sunday! I recently purchased a 2019 DC and getting started on my mods. I want to change out cig lighter socket and install usb charger for phones and iPads. Any suggestions on which is a good one? I want one with a volt meter in it. Any plug and play or will I have to enlarge the hole? Please send links. TIA

 

I can’t believe no one’s responded to this… I’m about embark on the same swap myself. It looks pretty straight forward.

I’ve done it to both of my trucks.

you will need to enlarge the hole. The existing cig plug is an L shaped connector that will not fit on a usb plug. You will have to cut off and splice with the new wires the usb plug will come with. I’ve just used some cheap ones I found on Amazon and haven’t had any issues for years.

This is the one I used. Same install instructions as mentioned above by @Taco-Spike It's got 2 3.0 USB A, C Type , and the voltmeter. Seemed like it checked all the boxes to me. I'm also running aftermarket seat heaters on the same circuit so I wanted the voltmeter as well.

So, is the integrated volt meter a “must have”? Any down sides / dangers associated without it?

 

NO, it's just a better read than the dash meter.
I did mine years ago..

Thanks for the feedback. I am going to pull the trigger, in a few minutes, and order mine as well. I am going to change 2 of 3 over to the USB-c and leave the other one untouched (just in case I need it one day). Thanks for the input/instal pics.

 

I did I similar mod, on the right one it has two USB and two USB-C ports and the left on has one USB-C with a USB pass through for the radio.

I made a pigtail and connected them without cutting factory wiring.
