CHROME DELETED HOOD BULGE ONLY?

Hey guys, has anyone else done the chrome delete ie color match on hood bulge only? Found this pic of someone here, hope they don't mind, but wanted to see some more. Like how the hood looks blended together with cement grey.

 

I just painted my mirror caps and hood bulge today. I also have cement grey. Once they dry I will get pics.

This is an old picture but I was riding like this while waiting for my other grill to come in.

 

Just changing out the bulge made a huge difference on the cement... i just kept on going though

 

Here is my hood bulge painted to match. I did it myself so it's not perfect but I'm pretty happy with it. Just need to buff out a few specs and get the bottom section complete.

I reccomend buy the platinum hood bulge off Amazon good color match and only $100

 

Went with complete chrome delete. Almost at least, need to have the bumper corners de-chromed. Stayed with the ‘18 Limited brushed grille insert and swapped out the chrome surround and hood bulge.

 

Ecoological has the bumper covers they have a tundras.com group discount foinf right now they run for around $200 with shipping included

 

Here is mine on MGM before I receive my paint matched grill.

 

A large percentage of owners do color match and eliminate chrome, but it's up to your taste and ideas. Either way, they all look good. Good luck.

This is my exact plan. Keep the limited grill and color match the hood bulge and insert. I also have a camper shell so my truck will look very similar to yours.

 

I just want to change the grill insert, in good with chrome surround...

 

Lmao, that's my truck! I should have taken a few more pics of it back then. The truck looked pretty cool with the oem wheels and stock bits.

I liked the look of the bulge paint matched, as the chrome didn't look bad with it at all. The bulge was easy to change compared to the issues I was having with the TSS. That's why I kept the 2018 grill, while using the 2017 bulge and surround.

I've since changed the surround. It wasn't a tough job, although it did take a lot of time to ensure that I didn't break any of the tabs.


And added the TPO bumper caps.

 

Looks great. Where did you get your cement surround and bulge? Did you by the grill+surround, remove the surround and then install it with the bulge piece?

 

Did you guys get the OEM color matched bulge and surround or the eBay/Amazon? Curious about the Chinese color match....

 

Has anyone tried wrapping their grill to delete the chrome. I’m thinking about doing the wrap jic I want the chrome back.

 

I did, my '14 grill was wrapped in black vinyl. The truck has an '18 grill now that's factory painted but my hood bulge and bumpers are still wrapped.

I still have the OG grill, my pile of original parts keeps growing.

I want to wrap the bumper corners in black and pair the grill gray but keep the Toyota symbol chrome.

yeah I have MGM and just had my bumper ends wrapped color match....the Toyota emblem is the only chrome I have on the outside. I replaced my chrome bulge and grill with paint matched as until recently I couldn’t find a wrap that matched close enough.

 

Just did the magnetic grey hood bulge, not sure yet whether to go with platinum or Trd pro grille but definately not a fan of the just the chrome grille myself.
