Class Action Lawsuit

I'm just curious is there was a thread talking about a class action lawsuit against Toyota over these 3.4L Turbo engine?

 

Why ? they say they are researching the problem for a solution.

Class action lawsuit always end in lawyers getting rich and the consumer getting $5

$5 is one pint of good craft beer. I see no reason why one would not want a good and free beer?

Pint, not six pack. I get my pint four packs for around $15-16.

 

Read the Pinto settlement for a precedent and that case was groundbreaking. Sounds like a tough guy move but doesn't payout well for the consumer.

 

There is no cause of action until real economic damages are identified. Right now people are getting repairs under warranty and a loaner truck for the duration. If someone gets injured while driving and the failure happens might be a different story. Air bags saved lives until they started taking them.

My dad sold me his repaired? 73 Pinto with a rebuilt '76 motor for 100 dollars back in '81. He took me to the cleaners on the price! It was my first car. Him and my mom didn't have no problem with me riding around in the rolling fire bomb. I loved that car!

 

You had the runabout? Those were the supposed fire bombs.

I had a 1977 wagon that I bought for $50 in 1987. Swapped out the head, set of used tires, and that thing chugged along for another decade AFAIK! 2.3L 4spd (Sloooowww) FTW!

EDIT TO KEEP ON TOPIC: Class action sucks. Lawyers get millions and we'd get a check for 80 cents.

You mention real economic damages as a cause of action. Therefore, would depreciation and/or inability to trade or sell current '22'23 Tundra's due to the recall umbrella classify as economic damages? I have a '24 currently not under the recall (yet), and am having a hard time unloading/trading. Many are trying to get rid of their rigs and can't because dealerships won't buy them since they are under recall status. The bigger issue then is due to the complex nature of not only the large number or recalled units affected but the timely process to install new engines per each affected truck. Remember, per the NHTSA requirement, Toyota has to eliminate the Safety portion of the Safety Recall. So, unfortunately, I can see many trucks sitting at the dealership for months and those that are in the back of the line waiting even longer. Until the recall fix happens on each truck, the depreciation will continue due to time and side effects of compromised recall repairs.

You guys talking about $10/can or glass (on tap)? Glass is of course more expensive, though not over the roof around here, but can is usually as good if no older than 4-5 months and was kept in the cooler.

I could not afford all 3 things together otherwise: live in burbs of Boston, drive a gas guzzler and drink THAT expensive beer.

So the guy who bought the crashed F series received $8k, but lawyers charged $73k for getting him the $8k...

 

Best to go after them yourself.

 

I've been researching some class action status regarding the 2024 Tundras. My position is that by 2024 they knew there was an issue and kept selling them. This, Toyota was knowingly selling a defective product. A class action suit was just created regarding the Prius for doors that open by themselves for the same reason, Toyota knowingly selling a defective product.
