Did some trail driving this weekend in 4 Hi. Towards the end of completing the trail I noticed a clicking sound coming from the front left driver side wheel well ONLY. The sound is rhythmic and in sync with my wheel (speed up sound gets faster and louder, no sound is made when wheels are not moving). I switched back to 2WD and the sound stayed for about another mile and then faded away. No more sound. I tested it again today and heard the same rhythmic sound in 4 Hi, again..the sound remained in 2wd and then eventually went away. I figured I had a stick or debris stuck somewhere in my inner wheel/CV axle area but I cant find anything. Google and forums search is saying bad CV axle but I'm convinced its something more simple as the truck only has 33,000 miles and I don't wheel it super hard. The CV boot looks fine, no tears or oil leaks. There is a TSB for the sticker on the drive shaft that has come partially off and makes a smacking sound. MY SOUND SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE THIS. Sounds like a baseball card smacking against bike wheel spokes. But I have a 2018 so I would think they removed that driveshaft sticker? I plan on jacking it up tomorrow and removing my engine skid to get a better look. What should I be looking for besides loose stickers lol? THANK YOU!

Maybe some trash caught up on the transfer case to front diff driveshaft. Maybe a twig in the u joint or similar.

Had a factory sticker hanging off my drive shaft, haven't tested 4wd again since pulling sticker but this had to be the culprit. Toyota issued a TSB for this, but it was for 1st gen tundras only!

I put a zip tie on my buddy's driveline a while back. Made a heck of a racket until he found it. If the label wasn't the culprit, check for loose wheel weights.

Sorry to bump the thread but I just got hit with driveshaft label noise of death! I pop my truck in 4wd once a month or so in the spring/summer/fall just to make sure everything is working right. Did that today and was greeted by a terrible racket. It sounded awful and expensive. Lol. Looked under the truck and the label was hanging off. I'm still in shock that a flimsy little label could make such a racket! I'm happy to report that it's all quiet now that the label has been removed. Anyway, thank you for posting this thread a few years ago as it did help me figure out my issue! Lol

I just had this problem on my 2020 Tundra Crewmax. I looked for the sticker on both sides but didn't see anything unusual so I took it for a drive and the noise went away. In my case, it sounded mechanical and I'm hyper sensitive to anything with this truck anymore since I hit a deer on Christmas day. I'm hoping this is a one time thing.
I did notice that it didn't make the noise in reverse or in 4 low.
