So, on our 2002 AC SR5, the cloth is pulling away from under the switches.

I’m guessing pull the door card, then what???

Can that cloth be replaced??? I’m thinking a repair would be more affordable…?

also, have any of you added padding there? My phatt elbow is kinda urgently expecting more…

You’re going to have to pull the electronics control tray thing out. Then get some spray upholstery glue and glue that fabric back. My guess. No experience. Good luck.

You don't need to pull the door card. Just pull that control panel off.

I'm assuming the cloth trucks have a foam substrate there, and it's not direct cloth-to-plastic contact. The foam not only makes things nice to touch, but acts as a buffer to prevent adhesive from wicking up.

If you can take some pics with the control panel popped up, I'll give my advice. Any Reg/Acc cab door card removal video on YouTube will show you/where to pop it up.

My 2000 did that. I removed the door card and masked everything off and sprayed it 3M Super77 upholstery adhesive. I used some strips of masking tape to hold the cloth over the edge. It worked for about 5 yrs and recently started pulling away which I think is due to the foam substrate deteriorating.

Before you remove the door card watch a video how to pop off the trim piece around the door handle. Also buy a pack of the little plastic door card clips with the little rubbber gaskets. A few of them may break.

Oh and yes a good upholstery shop should be able to replace the material on your door cards.

If your material/foam (like headliner material) are as worn/dirty and thin as mine when it started pulling away you’ll need to replace it. I’ve bought the material but haven’t started on mine. When you pull the door panel you’ll see that card is retained by plastic rivets. They have to be melted apart and back together after you’ve recovered your panel insert.

    This ^^

    I'd add three things ...

One, as a temporary solution, someone may actually make a thin, double-sided upholstery tape you could use; apply the thin tape to the plastic, then stretch the fabric over and clamp to hold it down. Once set, reinstall. Trying to use spray adhesive on thin fabric turns into a gooey mess... soaks thru the fabric, discolors the fabric, unless you wait a long ass time for the panel and fabric to tack-up before laying them on each other. Also tough to get your fabric lines right...

Two, 3M also makes another product great for this purpose, it's on-par with Super 77 but sometimes can be found cheaper. It's Super Trim Yellow 08090 and it's mostly what I've used for headliners, when I couldn't get Super 77. Only difference is it caps out around 145 F on heat, I think Super 77 will get you another 30 F on temps.

Three, on that last comment, that entire fabric insert is on a panel that pops out, which can receive new fabric, using the old fabric as a template. If you wanted to get some headliner material and re-do your own inserts, here's how to pop out the inserts and reinstall them as an upholstery shop would: https://www.tundras.com/threads/1st-gen-lunch-table-general-discussion.60450/page-202#post-1837643
