Just got my new Tundra 1794 this week. Loving it so far, but a couple little nits. The biggest one so far is how to turn off the auto-braking. When I pull in my garage (not back in), I have to come within about 2-3” of the shelves in the back in order to clear the garage door. I get to just about there, then get the red “BRAKE!” flash on the dash and the parking brake engages. I’ve tried turning off the parking assist button on the left side of the dash…no change. I then tried turning off the PCS, and it still made no change. Seems like there ought to be a simple temporary way to disable that. I’ve gone through the Reference Manual and Owners Manual, but haven’t found it. Am I missing something?

The button on the dash to the left of the steering wheel turns the slow speed auto braking off on my 2023. The nice thing about it is permanently stays off until I hit the button again, even when I shut the engine off.

I’ll have to try it again. That was what I thought it was supposed to do.

It's working exactly as it should now. It was the first thing I had tried as the manual says it should. But I’m wondering if when I tried it the first time, I was already too close and the sonar had already triggered the automatic braking. Regardless, it’s working and I appreciate the quick assistance. Nice to see an active forum with people willing to answer easy questions for new owners.

Mine got spooked by a branch sticking out of a small bush at the end of my driveway the first time I backed the truck out... full lockup.

Hasn't happened since but it sure gets whiny when I nudge up to my garage door. I have the Carista OBDII adaptor coming on Monday and looks like the sensitivity of all those settings can be adjusted :fingerscrossed:

There was another member that reported the left side switch didn’t cancel the operation. Be sure you’re seeing the icon on the dash showing the parking assist is Off after pressing the button. It will still beep at you but no auto brakes.

Maybe try to drive slower to your final spot? I did notice that sometimes the auto break will engage anyway even though I pressed the button disable it... So basically even though auto braking is disabled, the truck still doesn't trust me and thinks that I'm trying to crash it and auto brakes. If I drive slower, it seems to not auto brake anymore

Oh, I creep in as I have to get within 2-3” of the shelves at the back of the garage. I think the first time I tested it, I may have already been in the “beeping” zone when I hit the disable button, and that’s why it still auto-braked. I’ve tried it a few times since with the switch left in the disable mode and it’s working as expected.

Why not back in and use the backup camera?
It's better to pull out of a garage/ driveway than back out anyway
Do you pull in forward because of which side the driver door is and being able to get out, or something like that?

Update, Carista adaptor arrived tonight and I was able to reduce the distance to "LOW", and turn the tone to "LOW" - huge improvement. The tone is barely audible, might actually turn that back up to normal - but the distance is starts to complain at is now what I would consider reasonable. I could now rely on just the alert tone to get me fairly close to my garage door vs before I'd have to listen to it bitching for a while as I inched in closer.
